    artistic exploration

I'm interested in street art and expressionism, and animation.

anything that you could suggest would be extremely helpful.

ive always wanted to paint landscapes, or really just anything, but painting and rendering pretty much has me scared off it.

however pixels is one of the things i can comfortably experiment with, and hopefully i can transpose what i learn with them to anti-aliased brushes and painting works eventually.

I like that first piece a lot, really kewl style.

On the subject of getting into landscapes, maybe these will interest you:

It's kind of the same idea as your pixel art, so maybe you'll be more comfortable with it.

ooh! that's a wonderful video. i'm afraid detailing is really where my mind gets blown, but these at least are helping me get my forms right first, i suppose that's how i'm supposed to do things! i tried a small but non-pixel landscape, not sure how i feel about it.

    ah, well. practice!

amazing little tutorials there, i think i have seen things from ctrl+paint before, very excellent teacher c:

tried to apply some of what he was saying about a photo reference, with a brush tool instead of a pixel tool:

then did some more pixel detailing to prove to myself that i'm not utterly hopeless and can indeed spend time on something without ruining it:

watching that video was certainly very useful! i ventured out a little to try something less pixellated...

and some more light studies, and texture studies...

I agree, he is a good teacher. Not to bad on your study either, I'd say get some nice color variation like your pixel thumbnails and you'd be cooking with gas .

maybe start by drawing bigger... by zooming out to like 50%
then when you zoom in 100% you can add all the tiny details and it makes it sharper?
    idk, I'm only an amateur.

Paint them in? Not really sure what you mean, but a lot of concept artists get their texture either from photo overlays or custom brushes they make(you can also download some sometimes).

There is a few videos on texture at Ctrl+Paint:
