Spartan Camp #247 - 50 gestures + Optional "Muscle Naming Exercise"
The aim is to produce 50 gestures by Sunday the 16th of December.
- The gestures can be of anything, human, animal, cavorting capybaras.... You can draw full figures, but you can also go for heads, arms, eyes, or anything specific. All media can be used, both digital or traditional. Coloured or black/white. Quick scribbles or long studies. Imagination or referenced. Clothed or nude. Specifics are up to you!
- In addition to this, participants can choose to do an Optional "Muscle Naming Exercise", in any medium.
Additional notes on this weeks’ Optional Study:
The Background
Most of us have probably done some form of figure drawing at some point, or used photographic reference. We look at our reference and draw what we see. But do we actually know what we see? By interpreting the forms and shapes visible on the human body, you'll also reinforce your memory for drawing figures from imagination.
The Exercise
Do a normal figure study (whether it be from life or reference). As an added exercise, figure out and add the names of some of the muscles that are visible in your study. There's no need to name everything, you can set your own goals. If possible, keep your reference saved. Then we can discuss the original in this thread if there are uncertainties. This can be fun but also surprisingly tough!
Reference
<compiling>
As always- reference advised, not obligatory. Colour, medium, time frame, any specifics are up to you! Good luck and have fun! And feel free to ask questions!
50 poses is a challenge, but don't hurry or stress yourself reaching it! Focus on drawing, as practising is the main goal of this exercise.
Criticizing each other is highly encouraged!! Share constructive criticism, reference images and resources!! Let's help each other get better!
Come on soldiers! Flex those muscles!!
