Suggestions for good colleges for concept art in and around New York

I am a senior in high school, I am searching around for colleges that may be a good place to learn majors that would help with my eventual career as a concept artist. I was wondering if I could get some nuggets of knowledge from you folks on the low down of some art colleges to better prepare myself when applying. I don't want to go to an art college and end up regretting it because the teachers didn't care about art or the back of the colleges falls off (happened to my old highschool.) I am fine not going to an art school and going to a state college if that's they turn out to have a better art program... Anyways I just want to hear your opinions :3 Thanks guys!

You could try School of Visual Arts. They have a very strong illustration program from what I hear, and that certainly can benefit from illustration skills. If you don't have at least a 3.0 GPA, and can't afford it, I wouldn't bother applying though. You can only qualify for scholarships if you're above that as far as I know.

School of VIsual Arts is your best bet. From the work I've seen SVA is the way to go.

Woops I'm an idiot. I meant if you don't have at least a 3.0.

Anyone else got some suggestions, it doesn't have to be limited to NY. I am willing to go to the other side of the country if I can get an education I won't regret in the future. Thanks guys

Best schools for Concept Art in no particular order:

    1- Concept Design Academy
    2- Gnomon
3- LAAFA (LAAFA is really good with traditional art, to be honest i dont know much about their entertainment program)
4- Art Center (hard to get into)
    5- Academy of Art University
6- Otis (good artists have come out of this school)

I live in NJ and I am currently working on a portfolio to get accepted at Gnomon. I am not sure how hard it is to get into the other schools.

You could try out applying to Art Center, RISD, and MICA. They all have very strong illustration programs.
