Post I need a group of artists to illustrate for an anthology I want to get published.

I’m a junior in high-school and, like anyone in my predicament, I want to have something to show for it when I apply to colleges at the end of next semester. What I want to do is publish a little anthology of all my rock band tributes (rock band tributes meaning prose pieces, which have links to each below.) in a Shel Silverstein fashion, with an illustration of what the writing is about or depicting in the background of the actual piece. I’ve got a ton to make a little book too, but I ALSO wanna make the anthology from Aerosmith to ZZ Top with each rock band. I can’t do that without the help of an artist that isn’t busy. I’d obviously be writing more, and this list that’s down below will be growing with the coming weeks or even days. I need someone who can help me out, and believe me, if you help me finish it, I’ll give you credit (meaning your name on the published product as the illustrator) and it’d be something you can add onto your résumé. The ONLY requirements is that you’re 1) willing to work for no money (sorry, I’m a kid in high school, not CEO of a corporation. I don’t even have a debit card. I still have to use my parent’s credit card if I want something from the internet and even that can wait until Christmas. haha) 2) not busy and 3) love classic rock music (not that it really matters, but I mean, if you hate rock music then this won’t exactly be a cup of tea for you, will it?).

Some more details on the project: Okay, well, have you heard of Shel Silverstein’s poem anthologies like Falling Up or Where the Sidewalk Ends? You know, the ones where with each poem, there’s a little doodle or illustration that correlates or portrays a meaning to each poem or depicts the poem’s content? My idea is that, but with entire illustrations instead of doodles, and about rock bands and with prose instead of poetry. I mean, you can only help if you’re willing to put up with my requests, because I have a certain vision for some of these bands’ pieces and what I want to be on that page, since it’s an anthology of rock band prose pieces. Like, take for example Foster the People. I want the illustration to depict what the piece’s meaning is and have the illustration in the art style of the album art for Torches. OR take for example the Beatles and their piece I've written, maybe I’d want the illustration to have the art style of the album art for Revolver or Yellow Submarine. Some bands I don’t even have an idea for, like Pearl Jam or U2. You get me? I have certain ideas that go with each piece, but they all need to be made reality on certain art styles. I need an artist that can do many different art styles at my request. It’s a tough and very demanding project, believe me. I’ll appreciate any help I can get and you’ll get credit as an illustrator on this huge project.

Here’s a list of all the bands I’ve done:

My dream is to be a published author before the end of my junior year, but I can’t do it alone with the vision I have in mind. If anyone with an artistic talent can help me do it, I’ll love you forever. You’d be one of my best friends for life and a future work partner. You have no idea how much this means to me. (I actually sent an email to Rolling Stone magazine trying to contribute. Like they’ll reply.) Thank you for taking your time to read this. If you’re interested, reply to this thread or send me a message. I'LL APPRECIATE ANY HELP!

Let me get this straight. Not only are you not paying because your a teenager, presumably with the writing skills of one; you also want to art direct the pieces because you have already decided how most of them should look. Again from someone with no skill at drawing or working with professional artists or writing or art directing. Yeah, its going to be great, I can tell already. Unless the person was another teenager why would they want this on their resume? Try deviantart.com its exactly what you are looking for.

I give you points for chutzpah. Sincere points -- if I'd had a little more of it, I'd've gone a lot further.
I was once on the receiving end of a critique so savagely nasty, I marched straight out of class to the office and changed my major (sketchbook).

It's great that you're enthusiastic and ambitious, but this is not going to happen.

    Not.

    Going.

    To.

    Happen.

    Never.

    Ever.

Keep working hard on your writing, concentrate on doing what you can do for yourself to get into a good school, and good luck.

Why don't you ask your fellow students who do art?
