Shityt slugma revamp, gunna re-redo it later.

    I suck. Hard.

    Edit:

It's amazing to me that an forum full of artists cannot manage to create a prettier top banner for our forums.

Edit2: Oh and even though it's now almost May, thanks dogfood, I just read your post! Sorry.

Holy shit, this is a cool thread! youve got me coming back for more thats for sure.

Its nice to watch your progress, and youre definately progressing. Its clearly obvious that youre more comfortable in your own style but at the same time youre improving at life like stuff as well.

Youre sketchbook is somewhat different to mine in that youve got really interesting stuff to look at.

    Bookmarked, more more!

PIKACHU!! and i agree with jack. tons of interesting stuff to look at!! keep it up and practice thost colors, man!! start paingint in greyscale and then to color. it helps you with values a lot! paint in grey for a month, even if you hate it. hehe - and try to copy ref as much as possible! also dont use the color picker... it helps.

good work on the sizing... just keep in mind the highlights and midtones... dont go overboard on them. the left eyes look like they need to be a little more squished.

Worked some more on it. The technique I'm using is somewhat adapted from proms and some others I've read. I'm using mostly a hard brush at 60%. I'll overlap colours and then pick up the colour between them to get in between tone. Sorry about using the colour picker matt! I don't think it's a big deal with greyscale though, or if you're using your own colours. The tablet makes this all so easy.

haha, it's ok. just try to steer away from the color picker. an easy way to do this is to paint stuff on your PC with images from a magazine or book. then you can't color pick no matter what! keep it up!!

You misunderstand me, I don't colour pick at all from the reference image. I colour pick from colours I miz myself. Colour picking from the image itself is cheating.

Another progress shot, I gotta go move some shit around now. Teeth are still really in progress, theyre all crooked right now.

his eyes are too almond atm.

the ref is hard to read from the photo since its so small
but the lips look like you are just making up what you believe you know, and arent looking at the photo.

the bottom lip looks nothing like what you drew.

Yeah I'm having trouble with the lips, I want to keep them defined so I know what I'm doing while zoomed, but ill try and blend in more. I'll try to [ASIAN] up the eyes some more, for lack of a less offensive word. Wouls using the marquee tool be cheating?

Sorry about bringing up the bad memories Gnoll, I'll post a warning next time I draw weird old spacemen.

TD concept I'm scrapping. It's the only original idea I've had so far. :/

Hey, Mech. Lime Guy is really awesome. There's a lot of emotion and expression in his little body. I like when you try to get away from anime style. I can see some improvement there. Definitely draw from ref more. It looks like you're picking up on seeing things more accurately.

Yeah, keep in mind a lot of this stuff is YEARS old. I don't draw anime at all anymore unless I'm joking around. I've contemplating starting a new SB just to keep all the old stuff away from eyes.

    edit:
Messing around with sketcher. I didn't finish it but I did get around to erasing the sketch mostly. I drew in my physical SB but I'm too lazy too scan it in now.
