@ dawnusllaw: Thanks! I'm trying to explore different media to know which suit me best.

Figure drawing studies (from reference), 10-20 min each. As you can see, I can't draw legs or feet.

    ^ like this stuff
if you got problems with the shapes just divide them more into boxes, cylinders, cones etc. etc.
burne hogarth and vilppu are very good to practice those.

A photo study of a fungus, a still life of a battery (possibly the most boring thing ever) and two quick Sargent-studies. All digital.

@ Elias Leonard: Thanks! Glad to know you like it.
@ Yemi775: I appreciate that. It's nice to hear you can see the improvement.
    @ mikebutkus: Thanks!

Here's a little study of a screencap (the movie is "O Brother, Where Art Thou?").
For some reason the colors and the contrast get a bit messed up when I upload images to conceptart.org

Hi Ilari, very nice animal and figure sketches! Did you use a gel pen for last figure drawing studies?

I feel like you shouldn't afraid to really work and find the edges of your paintings and do a few more with opacity turned off. The o brother study is flawless, keep smashing it.

Great work! Just continue what you are doing and you will get even better the more time you spend on it.

As for drawing from imagination, I am just starting too, so no expertise here, but the book Imaginative Realism by James Gurney is great. Not sure if you can get it in Finland, but otherwise, it's available on Amazon UK.

@ RyanRyan: Yeah, you're absolutely right about that. I am a little afraid of hard edges
@ Aquelot: Thanks for the comment! I'll see if I can find the book you mentioned. It seems like worth checking out.
    @ Matthias: Thanks, mate!

Edit: Decided to delete the images from this post because I just hated those drawings. Gotta do better.

Man for someone who started not so long ago, your already so good!
I'd suggest trying to apply all you study with imagination work the best you can, because other the knowledge doesn't sink in so well.
    Looking forward for more!
    My journey

“I’ve just neverbeen good at drawing _____, so I never draw ______.” This is a circular logic offailure that a person will never escape. If you wish you were better at drawing _______, draw it!
If you aren’t very good at _______, and avoid it, you’ll never getbetter at drawing _______! This attitude is setting yourself up for a lifetime of nevergetting good and enjoying _____.

    @ Crimbal: Thanks!
@ crisimikiwiki: Thanks for the kind words. Love your sketchbook, btw.
@ TomSeas: Yeah, I should try to apply my studies more. I feel like I'm pretty good at observing things, but can't reach that level when working from imagination. Thanks for the comment!

Really inspiring stuff mate... You and me have a similar background, being interested in art and then playing guitar instead until past 20, so I feel a certain sort of rivalry already. Sucks for me though, cause you're way ahead in art skill xD I really liked the face on page 42, you are good at emotions. Keep going strong.

Wowza, your observational skills are certainly something to be admired! The only thing I'd say to watch for is your edge control in certain pieces and be careful with how desaturated thins can get, but other than that everything's just killer. I'll be back to check out some updates from you.

Wow! Really like that last Sargent study. Awesome work in here, I'll be keeping an eye on it! That is one of the stranger looking bananas I've seen though. The one I had with lunch today wasn't quite as round

Thanks again for the advice in my sketchbook, really appreciated.
