Fabrics, clothing and cloths

Hey everyone I was wondering if anyone knows of any good tutorials or advice that would help me in drawing but mainly painting fabrics.

My figures have started to come along but when doing studies of nudes, though some have fabrics and I find myself having to skip those ones or just simply outlining where the fabric is and unable to detail them.

Any help is appreciated.

Why are you thinking of the cloth and fabric as different from any other aspect of the subject? And might I recommend googling "drawing fabric"?

Pay attention to seams, how it fits, flows and crease on the body. Knowing where seams are suppose to be on the body really helps to define or imply form. All of that is important to create the illusion that it is flattering or not for the character.
Great source of reference on most clothing websites. They usually have a model wearing it in pictures and sometimes they have a video of the outfit.

Most items on http://www.shopbop.com/ have a video of the model doing a turn around.

I'm glad you liked it! Another favorite of mine is Leif Peng's flickr collection; http://www.flickr.com/photos/leifpeng/collections/
his collection on illustrators include a number of pieces (like the one below) by Albert Dorne, whose wonderful examples of drawing drapery are highlighted in the FA pages. Of course you want to draw from life to understand. The great thing about the FA or Bridgman presentation of "the seven laws" is it gives you specific recurring effects to look for to help you make sense of a complicated visual reality.

Also... Why not set up some drapery as a still life and practice drawing it? Taking the time to carefully observe and draw a mess of drapery really does help you wrap your head around it. And I do mean take your time... Don't rush through and fudge it.

At any rate, stop skipping over the drapery - you'll never learn how to draw it until you try!
