Hey Nick, you've got some great pieces here man. If there's one thing I could suggest here, is that it may be worth checking over some of the facial structuring in some of those studies. It isn't a major gripe as such, but things like proportioning of facial features sometimes appear a little off? I have the same problem where I'd place the eyes slightly too high on the face or things like alignment of the nose in relation to eyes etc. Check out some Andrew Loomis stuff for help on this - very useful stuff! Keep up the good work!

    Cheers for that Simian
Yeah today I got a few people from a fb art group advising me on keeping an eye on the facial structure and nailing it down asap.
Haha yeh Loomis really helped a lot

    Thanks for viewing!

Sorry I haven't been posted here lately. I was on a long overseas vacation
Anyways, here are some stuff I did recently.

I also did an illustration piece for the League of Legends digi-art contest, featuring the champion Katarina.

More portraits... one is done completely with chalk brush, the other only with soft brush (+ tiny hint of scattering brush for lil texturing of the skin).

Very nice improvement! Real nice rendering. specially with the hair and skin. Cant help but notice that the face is a tad longer and thinner than the reference photo, in fact it might only be a tad too long, but great job nonetheless!
Very inspiring to see such an improvement

hey mate, nice environments, and great values in their layouts. your portraits are okay copies, but feel a little lifeless because of the flat lighting and some anatomy/structural issues. do you do life drawing or some kind of anatomy studies? i know most anatomy books use the anglo-saxon white-person head as standard, but even then, they could help with some of the issues in your portraits of various asian people as well. cheers.

Cheers, I've got some bridgman books for anatomy studies. I watch some tutorials online by other artists to try help my understanding as well (daarken, idrawgirls, etc.)
I think it's the soft brush that I'm using that makes the image more stiff. I have to work on balancing edges in my work, as well as pushing towards more dynamic lighting to liven up some stuff.

    Thanks for viewing once again
I like your figure studies on your SB btw!

Anyways, back with colour ver. Wanna try smaller image size for better view. Played around a lil with some gaussian blur
