    Confusion about Books [INFERNO] [DANTE]

    Hello
i have a little confusion . so if im correct there are two books
    1 Inferno by Dante
2 Dante's inferno by i dont know who

so the book Inferno by Dante is a poem?? or a story?? or a story told through poem??
and then Dante's inferno must be the book based on the Game by EA or is it the same book Inferno by Dante??
can anyone clarify this for me?? thanks

the thing is if they are two Different books then i'd like to buy them both!!

No, the book is called The Divine Comedy and is written by Dante Alighieri, contained within that book are three parts, Inferno, Purgatorio and Paradiso and its written in a poetic meter made up by Dante called terzinen. "Dantes Inferno" refers to the first part, and the EA game was based loosely around that I guess.

Seriously, have you heard of wikipedia?

i suggest you read the divine comedy if you haven't because its not only good and important in the world of literature. there is a lot of art, music, even movies and games based on or inspired by it. and i think a lot of fantasy stuff and so on is in the end atleast indirectly influenced by it.

i have to admit though that it's not easy to read, but it's worth it, especially the inferno part because of the reason above.

Its an amazing piece of work.

Despite the OPs strange fear of the site, wikipedia has an excellent article dedicated to it.

My brother has the book in a sort of hybrid form, with the poetic verse on the right side, and then notes on how it can be interpreted on the left. I shall ask him who the writer is. And I also seriously doubt many people have read the whole thing, its not an easy read. I have not read it yet.

I have thsi though, and highly recommend it, its Dorees illustrations http://www.amazon.com/Illustrations-...+divine+coemdy

It might have been this, where its translated in to slightly easier to read Blank verse

I know there are "Cliff notes" too, but Im pretty sure the book hes got has it all in one book. It only covers Inferno, but who are we kidding, that's the one we are really interested in!

This looks like the best bet http://www.amazon.com/Inferno-Signet...+Kline+inferno

yea i can guess ....im going to get the one which is translated by John Ciardi and at penguin it says its of 928 pages i believe its proper Divine Comedy containing all 3 parts
coz the last link you provided is one of the 3 seperate books

also John Ciardi's translation is like an actual poem
and he provides [i believe] proper explanation in seperate paragraphs, the meaning

    any way thanks alot guys!!
