    The road to greater understanding

    Hey conceptart!

It's been nearly a year that I last visited this place, a lot has happened and I want to start over again.
Enrolled in the preliminary year for illustration and living on my own now, it's time to re-incorporate this site to my routine.

Here is some stuff from the last 2 months

Pretty nice. I like the way you've rendered the metal plates of his armor. Nice lines and values.

Here is a timeless poet or something like that, not as happyn with his right hand and the feet also took me quite a while, guess there is only one thing to do then: Draw hands and feet

I think that you are great with values and rendering. I would like to see some plain anatomy studies / pose studies.
You could do a 30 minutes / 1 hour class over at Pixelovely!

Here's the batch from the last few days. I tried out 2 class mode sessions at pixellovely and was pleasantly surprised by the image quality and smoothness. I also managed to catch some people at the train station on paper. And lastly there is a beginning to a new timeless character.

lionheartGFX- Thanks man! Slowly getting the hang of daily drawing/studies.

Have been sick the last 2 days.. mustered up enough courage to start a coloured self-portrait today. Displayed here is a few hours of frustration and slight headache at the end of it (bright light glaring in your face is not the best thing for a couple of hours).

Hey, I really like the colors in your self portrait. Nice bounce light from the right!
Keep it up! (Make sure to check the values every now and then, because it could use a little more versatility there.)

Ecki- Thanks for your comment! You are right about the values, I need to dare using more contrast in my pictures. Expect some b/w studies soon.

    Have a song http://youtu.be/Xqw4wo8vdY8

For tonight's headache I present you guys.. my bag! There's about 4 hours of work in it at the moment I tried to do it by day at first but shouldn't have done it right before nightfall, shadows kept changing. Odd that most of the colours you see here are around the orange range of the spectrum. A few lessons learnt and tried a different technique.

Another late-night sketch from yesterday, some female anatomy and shading practice. I should really try to head to bed earlier...

    A merry Christmas to everybody!

The past few days could have been more productive, but I got down some women on paper.

All the anatomy began to tire me out, so that's the perfect time for some imaginative drawing. Started out with the thumbnails and saw something with 4 arms. I asked myself: What has four or more arms? The answer came pretty quick.. insects! Some quick studies were done and a grasshopper warrior was born. I'm planning on colourizing one of the two in Photoshop.

    lionheartGFX- Thanks again!

Haven't been as productive as I wanted this holiday.. maybe I should uninstall League of Legends at some point..

What started out as a simple value study turned out to be something that resembles the picture. By one of my favorite illustrators

Skraja- Thanks for your kind words.

Nearly a month into the new year and still no update, here's some change for you guys! I've been doing quite a lot this last month, but haven't uploaded all of it yet. Expect more in the next update. A soundbite Sounds from Police or fire departments overlayed on ambient music
Some Posemaniacs gestures and a nude study, not yet done.

Wow, nice update bro! This study is done without opacity, right? Those take for ever to do, I also did a few of them. You really managed to get the skintones to look nice – awesome!

Keep up the great work and keep working hard

Ecki- Thanks, you are spot on about the opacity! I must fess up that I've put ~4h of work into it by now yea, it sure is time consuming..

As promised the second batch of what I've been doing. A lot of Loomis heads after watching the Proko series, a portrait from a girl at uni (~1h) and a partial drawing of Zyra (League of Legends)
