Recent Photo Thread

Hi there,
This kind of thread is quite popular on another photo-forum I visit and it works like this:

Post photos you took recently here!

Rules:
- photo must be new (no dumping of old pics)
- don't post too many, selecting the very best shots is hard but important in photography (I'd suggest a maximum of 2-3 pics in one post)
- c&c should always be welcome!
- try to include information about the shot that might be interesting (important camera settings, focal lenght, place the photo was taken, lighting technique, etc.)

This works well if:
- you just want to post one pic and don't want to open a new thread just for it
- you want to browse new content by a lot of different photogs

good idea and nice portrait Since I seem to be unable to assort some pics for a thread this might work out for me in busy times, too.

Just for clarification - how new is new? Taken today? Within one week ago? Within one month ago?

Well, here's one of my cats boiling on the oven. Today.



Specs: 50 mm lens, f 3,2, 1/50, natural diffuse late afternoon-daylight, iso 1000 - well, it's a personal snap.

Hiho Nike, nice of you to join me.
There rly is no hard rules about how new a photo has to be. But I think it's a good motivation to go and take new pics if you can post them somewhere.
Personally I think that a forum is the wrong place for a "my gallery" kind of post, there are other websties far more suited for this.

Gasmask was bought as a party gag and is way too small
lights: 2 bare flashes slightly behind and to the sides of me 1/8 power, SB-24, 1/250s, f/9.0
made it more blue (esp in the shadows) in post

I got to admit I'm not a big fan of gasmask photos, but I rally like the light in this one - it creates some kind of Darth Vader atmosphere

I had to shoot some (plastercast) Museum pics yesterday, here's one of the more personal shoots I did at the end of the shoots. Lights - we had two strong Walimex daylight photo lamps, a third one would help a lot. Museumlights are not very good, unfortunatley. Used a tripod, too.

@ Tempoe: hi there, nice abstract, I think there is more room for experimantation with different liquids, bubblesand different glassen/cups

focal lenght 50mm (75mm equiv)


ISO 6400 is only usable for web, lots of colour noise
else it's a great camera

I need to get my chuff out and about more - this was the most recent photo that I've been happy with. I hope the Flickr link is ok?

Camera info: Nikon D300s, Sigma 10-20mm Wide angle lens at 11mm. ISO 800, 1.6 seconds exposure at F4.2. It was pretty much hand held resting on a fence rail.

As an aside I've been trying to post a 'My Photography' style thread in the "Post Your Photography!" forum but it never seems to appear - any ideas? Loving the work in here though.

steve - beautiful nightshot, I really live the colors and contrasts! I have no idea, why your thread is not appearing, though. I haven't yet tried starting one myself.
infinity - really nice result for on-cam flash - the softbox seems to work fine

@ steveOBHave: 1.6 Seconds is impressive for handheld, fence or not without a tripod I always seem to get camera shake in those even with a improvised "tripod"
@ Nike: christmas trees are just another toy for cats aren't they, I think more depth of field would have been nice here so the paws and the eyes are in focus f/8 should have done the trick when working with flash anyways

here is one of my later pics, I guess a cat got the best of this fella
It was laying in front of a bank and everyone who wanted to go there had to go past it

Because I'm a klutz and I dropped my Olympus, I had to bum a Canon Powershot SX 130 for this. 15.1, f/4.5 out of a window, overcast sunset after a huge storm.

I'm a hobbyist at best, but I got what I was after and I like it a lot.

the scans of Ektar come out reeeeaaaaly good, no color correction here but if I did correct the WB it would look almost digital but with more dynamic range
if someone is interesten in 100% scan crops compared to digital or cheaper film just say so
