Hello,

Im a 24 year old cook from amsterdam. I finally found the opportunity to register to the forums and
participate in the sketchbook forum for some critiques. I really want to improve and go to art school
sooner or later.

It was a hassle but after a third try it's finally here, these are some scanned pencil sketches. I am trying
to get the hang of my tablet to digitalize my work atm. I got this really cheap wacom thing its hard...

This what i been working on this evening, trying to color an earlier pen sketch also posted above. Its my first serious
attempt at coloring an scanned sketch. I'd like some feedback on technique and improving blending. Some parts dont
show propper because i painted it on the original scan resolution, had to reduce file size for the forum. But you get the
idea from the wip.

Second time trying to color an earlier scanned sketch. Wanted to get some sharp line art done before coloring, thought it might help me getting the feeling of the pad.
Still wip nothing near final if i can accomplish what i got in my head.

Today's digital practise.

Careful, for the coloring in digital paint, and generaly coloring, don't use a color for skin and ajusted with black or white.
I advise you do studies for colore because you can find a lot of color in example red in a blanck skin.
otherwise, we can see your desire to learn ^^.

that skeleton dudes looking awesome! for other paintings i agree with jaywry, you seem to be only using one colour for skin with highlights and lowlights of the same colour, when usually human skin has a load of different hues in depending on lighting. get a load of reference pictures next time you paint, i promise it'll help! great start to sketchbook though

Thanks for the replies, i really appricate it.

I took a diffrent approach to the skin this time. As you can see i mainly pick my light source from the right upper corner when there is no background light source, it feels naturaly and easy to me. I dont know where im going with this character yet but for now its just an object to expiriment on. Hope i did well according to the comments. In the end i should just start painting people from reference more like you guys stated..

This was mainly a perspective practise but i ended up painting over it for hours.. I dont like how it turned out i stil have a lot to learn especially on shading and color, perspective is working pretty well though.

Today's practise. Took her in manga studio, redid the edges, painted over it in painter with acryl brush, then did a over kill in photoshop...
