    sketch and other stuff

Hey guys, have been a lurker for much too long(you all must hear this a lot), but I finally decided having a sketch book thread might be motivation enough to track progress. At least to photograph what I am working on in my sketch book and get help. Thanks in advanced.

Thank you. I'm trying to get better at my line quality and gestures. I have sort of a hard time thinking in shapes

Hey again guys. Had some technical difficulties, changing homes and everything. Here's two sketches done yesterday at the beach.
Working on a DSG right now, so lets see if I can wrap it up soon.

Hey again. Been a few more days, but decided to pull in some studies. Heads are always so hard, especially from different angles. Some of my studies are based off the"dynamic figure drawing" book, which I have found most helpful.

Quicky eye study. Eyes are just as tricky. Hope to get better every day.

Some fruits I did a tiny study on for an hour. Wanted to focus on the shapes of the fruit and getting a likeness to the photo. and also values blobbed in there.
More to come. Was recommended "The New Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" to help me with my shapes and spacial understanding.

It's been a while. Had so much going on, I neglected my online thingy..i will say proudly that I did not neglect my drawings.
Just need to practice more. I've taken the advise of some to reproduce masters studies, or just character studies from other artist, when ever I have had the drive to do them of course.

Studies from my commute, of people

studies from online ref, masters studies and character studies

I know most of these are just rough and messy, but any help or suggestions would be great. Thank you

Some figures, most are 10 minute studies. I need to work more on getting more done in less time, by the 10 minute mark I at most have the body laid out, but not any form shadows what so ever.
    gotta keep going..mileage

Really liking the output, I may have found a rival haha. The sketches of people from your commute were awesome. If you're having trouble getting the gesture down quickly, try referencing landmarks to each other to help with that. I've been studying out of Hampton, and he's got a great method of using one set of landmarks to get the rib cage, head, and pelvis lined up, and some more to align the limbs with that. I found it very useful.
