Thanks man I plan to keep doing them until I can do them at will and without refrence for the most part, yeah I'm a tattoo artist.. Thanks for the kind words man I took up digital because I don't have a designated and ventilated space for oils anymore.. But I'm really starting to dig them now, their fun with no mess and no clean up if I ruin a canvase I just delete it. I still don't have the same control over it as I do with traditional media but I'm getting closer and I'm liking the adventure..

yeah i find after a while, you can draw without directly looking at reference, like, you start getting a feel for how atmosphere blues things or what mountains look like, kinda but it helps to have it around. ive a long way to go but thats my feeling anyway.

30 min sketch on that insect painting?!!!?? It is NOT terrible AT ALL..... how can you do it so fast? It an awesome idea and looks like an infected insect robot that spreads disease to its enemies.

the other thing is on dino pirate guy, thats some tight linework. youre a tattooist by trade right? it shows in that steady hand.

i also like tghe 30 min bettle sketch, thats working pretty well for me..

i think youre looking good, keep doing the studies, if its hard thats a good sign, and keep smashing out the nude studies, theyre really decent.
I think what I hate most about that beetle sketch is I meant for it to look like a beetle but I didn't have reference for the underside so doing it from imagination I almost instinctively reverted to making it mechanical because it's just easier with more simple perspective and I never could get the local value I wanted, I wanted it black and shiny but with all the grey it turned out metallic... So I guess some insect studies are in order cause it bummed me out I couldn't get it how I wanted it to look.

Yeah ma man keep pushing out stuff! My best advice as well is to do it the old fashion way and get a pen and draw from life! Anything will do! If you want to learn super fast of course.

You are right of course, but I've never tried life drawing with a pen, I always use pencil.. Is there some benefit to using a pen or just your preference? Look forward to life drawing coming soon. And I'll post some work of mine from inside my comfort zone not just studies..

Sick work man. I really like it! That orange coy with the blue water and violet flowers is extremely cool. How long have you been inking?

If you're looking for a sketchgroup to join, you might consider mine (link is in my signature). There's really one two of us active, but we work hard; we could definitely use some eager new blood.

I'd be willing to do the Spartan challenges as well. Although, I will not be able to do 1 a day...just so you know

Thanks, I've been tattooing around 10 years I don't have an exact starting date cause when I started it was kinda sorta totally against the law here, they luckily changed the law..

I can't do one a day all the time either I have work stuff I have to draw first before I draw fun stuff, and I goto the gym every other night and generally don't feel like drawing after the gym most of the time, and sometimes the girlfriend requires my attention.. But I do my best..

Dude I think you are doing JUST FINE. I was recommending drawing in pen because it improves your mark making twice as fast compared to drawing in pencil. Also just something I read here, try to post all the art in one post, as much as possible. The mods might say what you are doing is a form of bumping. just sayin' man i wouldn't want them to release the ban hammer on all this cool art ma man. See yaaaaaa!!

i doubt they would see it as bumping since i posted it all at the same time pretty much, i split it into different post to isolate where i had both a sketch and a tattoo and another random tattoo in the same post, but they were sequential post one after another. i do talk alot and say random things but id never bump my stuff just to get more views. if i was so stinking awesome i thought my art needed to be veiwed more than the other sketchbooks (which are super intimidating by the way) i would post in the finally finished section... but that said that was the only time i will be doing a massive art dump all at one time, from now on ill be lucky to post a couple pages of gestures at once..

oh and before i forget here is a crab from earlier today it was a fun bit of exploring and i figured out some new stuff im excited to try in new studies
