Enough for now, will probably work more on it tonight:

Hey Benedikt, I've been admiring your sketchbook for quite some time and I just wanted to say that you've been a great inspiration for me. I like your process of underpainting and then overpainting. I don't have much of worth in my gallery, but if you ever care to take a look, any critiques on what to work on would be appreciated.
I can't really say much else in terms of substance. I guess I'm just one of those fanboys who can't really give you pointers but would if I could. Keep up the work, I'll be watching ya.![]()

Destroy your weaknesses! theres nothing more to it! stop bitching grab that pencil and sketch Away!
Saw your CHOW entry so I had to check out your SB, and I'm sure as shit glad that I did.I could definitely learn a thing or 20 from you, man, so I'll definitely keep checking this one out.
Green Lightning, thanks mate! I'll be sure to have a look at your sketchbook! Guess I'll manage tomorrow =)

Didn't get around to a lot today. Bad art day, time wise that is. Was itching to draw all day but hardly got a chance. Guess sometimes you can't help that. Need to get up early tomorrow, so this is all for today:

Your technical designs are insanely good and that chow entry in #183 is really pro! About that swamp hermit... I am not sure if he looked like this after twenty years in wilderness. Maybe add some dents and rips to his clothing or some handmade stuff?Anyway really good work, keep it up!

Thanks jakubvavrik! Will try to make him a little less... polished and clean. Great hint!
Thanks again GreyPersona. I still find my technical drawings utterly amateurish. I guess it's a combination of crappy line quality and some perspective errors I still keep making. Well, I've been at it for a month now, will probably take me 12 more until I feel those sketches are more or less presentable...
Here we go, the produce of the day;
One sketch without any Refs (which shows -.-), one Sargent study and a current WIP for the CHOW (have mainly been improving the background):

I had planned on staying under the woodwork for awhile longer as I studied but I just had to come out after flipping through your SB. The rate and quality you crank out pieces and studies is incredible to me. I've spent the last few days just worrying whether I'm even studying well enough but going through these pages has helped iron in how much I need to step up my game if I want to get anywhere near your level.
Thank you Benedikt, it was an enjoyable and inspirational read. I hope to see more great things from you from now on.
Thank you very much MrKanti! Looking forward to seeing some of your work at some point in the future.
A few figure studies;

Tried to see if I could put anything I learnt from Mr Sargent into practice. Did this from a Ref I googled:

Finde deine Artworks und Skizzen extrem toll und lehrreich! Besonders die Step-by-Step Bilder und Gifs. Sie illustrieren sehr gut wie die einzelnen Formen funktionieren und man sie mit Licht und Schatten richtig definiert.
Hey SLovi, danke dir! Freut mich dass dir die Zwischenschritte etwas bringen.
Another study (from photo ref, http://www.flickr.com/photos/peopleo...7624572361792/ - gorgeous images there), not yet finished obviously. Was a lot tighter with my line work this time and consequently ran out of time- need to go to bed now (it's 3 in the night here -.-)

hey that ned stark(sean bean will always be ned stark to me) study is really cool,one thing though i noticed t is that there is a lot of overlaping shapes and edges in your studies due to opacity change. I think,it would be
interesting if you tried to contorol your edges a bit more and maybe use various blending techniques-(ctrl.paint.com hasa great video tutorials on this)
I also find those enviro thumbnails interesting you seem to have good color awareness-is that from master studys or life painting?

Thanks a lot for the input Geay Persona. I genreally try to control edges deliberately, in the Ned Stark painting I just didn't get it down as well as I would have wanted to. I was painting in a hurry, not a very good idea of course.
The enviro thumbnails in 202 were done without references.
