wow, your value sense and grasp of space is very very good, but i must agree with some others that your landscapes and environments seem to be where your emotions are. the dramatic sense of space you have is really nice to see, especially in your skies.
i would love to see some more intense expressions in those portraits!
Thanks AngeUnge. It's defintely true that there's more to my landscapes than to my figures/ portraits. I'm trying. I guess there's a lot of practice time missing still.
This is a WIP for the special EOW (due 21st of December):

Your sense of light and value are great. Made even greater with the use of color in you landscapes. Great sketchbook.

oh my GAWD STAHP!!! my eyes will get blind from the awesomness, id love to know more about your art journey! did you study by yourself? what subject did you struggle with? im sorry for the direct questions but its cuz when i see art as compelling and captivating as yours i just want to know more about the artist hehehe, anyhow please keep on sharing im subscribed!
PS:your diagrams of the face in the top helped me understand better the brow and base of the nose area of the face, wich i always had some trouble with, im so thankful for that!!

Thanks for breaking your silence, Nick! It's very much appreciated =)
lionheart,
thanks for your kind words. No problem at all about the questions, I'll try to answer as well as possible. I am self-taught in the sense that I never went to any kind of art school. Now as I'm getting more into it by the day I wonder whether I might not do that in the future after all. I'm only 3 semesters away from graduating in psychology/linguistics, so I'll definetely finish that, but I'm not sure what will happen afterwards. I found that the more I do, the more I draw and learn, the more I realize that this is what I love. Which is kind of a predicament- but you know what they say, it's never too late to turn a ship around- and I'm 'only' 23 years old (will be around 25 when I graduate) so it's not that late I guess.
About subjects that I had to struggle with, I guess I'd say just about everything. Everything is difficult until it becomes easy. The only thing that for some reason just "came to me" without much dedicated study is a sense of colour and atmosphere (that I guess came from just looking at tons and tons of artwork, photographs etc.). Everything else I had and have to struggle with. Currently I'm getting more into anatomy. If you like the diagram of the head, don't thank me, go and get Glen Vilppu's DVD on anatomy, that's where I took that from. It's absolutely astounding how much knowledge Vilppu will get across in just a few hours.
Hope I answered your questions to a satisfying degree, if you'd like to know more, just ask way.
I'm terribly behind with the scans again. I hope I'll be aböle to catch up tomorrow.

Hey benedikt,
Superb studies ( both traditional and digital). The spacecraft design also caught my attention. Would love to see more stuff from imagination from you.
Sketchbook
A creative artist works on his next composition because he is not satisfied with his previous one. When he loses a critical attitude toward his own work, he ceases to be an artist. - Dmitri Shostakovich
Thanks kevin! Will do!
Thank you Tea of Doom. I've been doing lots of studies recently, you're right, a bit more from imagination or even finished illustrations would be good. WIth christmas approaching time is a bit of a problem though =)

Beautiful, inspirational work. Thanks for the progressive digital still life photos, they are very helpful.
It took me like three hours to finish the shading on your upper lip. It's probably the best drawing I've ever done.
My sketchbook (it'll get good near the end)
