    How to shade ?

    hi

    can anyone help me with painting?

    when i try to paint something it become flat and when i try to shade it , it becomes so ugly

    i want to know how to shade


    (iam using photoshop cs5)

    EDIT: And no, it doesn't really matter that you're working with Photoshop. Understanding form and value is universal between mediums (unless you have program problems where you have screwed your layer modes or something).
    Also actually showing your image would help.

    Look at how other artists "shade". Analyze, be facinated and enjoy. Then strive and struggle for some years.

    Like this. Establish the contours, create an abstraction for the shadow shapes, model the shapes in the light and shadows keeping the values separate between the two groups. eezy peezy
