I certainly cannot stop anyone from spending their energy however they want, but i think after more than a few bitter overactions about entertaiment i should´t be blamed if i suddenly decide to start using the hide posts/unfollow button and make a few tweaks to my privacy settings.

Some banter is always understandable but come on, nothing thats worth starting a flame war over, some folks just get anoying with this and theres really no reason to go batshit. Disney might as well start a policy of mudering kittens for fun, they would get just a tad more crap than they already do.

Nobody is/was having a go at anyone. If people think Disney and prequels suck crusty ass, it's their prerogative to express that here.
Calling a negative viewpoint "bitching" and telling people to "stop bitching" is the only thing that will lead to hassles. Some people
like this news, others dont. I don't see any "batshit" here. Talking about unfollowing and hiding posts is a bit much.

As Disney and Star Wars is a subject close to a lot of peoples hearts...
Anyone here can express their joy or loathing at the news and the franchise in general.

Future posts telling other users to "stop bitching" or bemoaning the fact that folks are unhappy or too overjoyed will be removed.

Well, to be fair, that is kind of what the basis of a corporation is. There's a difference between what
fans perceive to be a holy cow and what corporations see as a cash cow. (Which is potentially everything)

    Guys gotta get paid.

umm if i had to bet, i´d say the action is going to revolve around Luke and Leia´s sons and not them.

Now, may the force be with whoever is going to cast the teenagers playing those roles if it is so

I would welcome it if it strayed into the Old Republic era( extremely doubtful) or at least went into the expanded universe as mentioned above. There should only be references to the main characters of the original films, or maybe just show Luke/Leia with some new faces.

Actually the Thrawn Trilogy would be pretty awesome. Acck, my wandering mind anyways...

I think it has an equal chance to be a failure or somewhat successful( can't be as bad as the prequels right ;/ )

Long as they have the sense to not put any of the Extended Universe stuff in them, it will be fine. Sorry if anyone here is a fan, but that stuff is just bad and corny.

I think Lucas did a great job the first time around with Star Wars and Indiana Jones movies. People get pretty jaded about this stuff and don't give them credit for being better than anything else for a good 20 years after release. Not a fan of the fiddling though, but it's not like I'm anti-Lucas over it. He just needs someone to say "no touch!" when he wants to break out the old films and start doing stuff to them.

I would cringe hard if they referenced the originals especially using direct sources like "the new main character is lukes son". I hate that crap.

My guess is they're either going far forward or much further back in the time line.

A lot of people will probably hate me for saying this, but I didn't think Episode One was bad at all. However, I do dislike the rest of the prequels due to the bad acting and questionable writing. In addition, I will concur with you guys that it's time for Lucas to let the series go.

I seem to recall in Timothy Zahn's Heir to the Empire series. Liea was pregnant and had a nude scene... looking at that picture of Carrie Fisher now. I think we can safely say it won't be based on Zahn's work. Although Mark Hamill looks like he could be swayed to the dark side by Zahn's Cobath.

Conveniently the the fabled 9 chapters have magically become 12, ensuring we will get 6 more movies. Also the guy says "ep 7-9 are the best". How convenient and odd that they didn't film them before the prequels then, ehh?

I wouldn't mind going to the Old Republic a little bit, or to the Dawn of the Jedi time line, lots of stuff happened back then that could go into a cool movie or two. If they do make sequels after Episode 6, they might want to go a bit further in the continually, if they do during the Dark Empire arc or the New Jedi Order, it'd be pretty cool and they might want to spin onto other characters like Kyle Katarn or some of the many others. Lots of stuff happened while the original cast were still alive, even if they hardly even mentioned them they'd still have played a major part in influencing what has happened over the years. They will have influenced a lot beyond the Legacy comics I bet, so anything after Episode 6 will have mention of the Rebels, the Rise of the Empire, The New Republic, etc. Heck, I really wouldn't mind if they spun off on an Infinitive like Tag and Bink, it'd be pretty cool, but they've gotta watch what they do and to try to not get any angry hype like what they got from the prequels. I think people just sort of over exaggerate, I know I did a bit, but standing back, it might not be that bad, you never know, Disney makes a lot of good movies.

Wasn't Harrison Ford working on the Ender's Game movie? My brother looked it up and flipped out when he found out Ford was going to be one of his favorite characters from the book.

Considering all Marvel has been doing with Disney and Disney's own history, I think it's not such a bad thing. Star Wars in the past 20 years has been about commerce and toy-selling, and the level of commitment George Lucas has shown with the story hasn't befriended the fans so far... See Marvel for example. So far I'm not angry at Disney for having Marvel. I enjoyed what has been made from Marvel after Disney bought it, and I think a lot of people forget Walt Disney didn't start making movies for children, they were made by grown-ups. Donald Duck smoking cigars isn't really children material, and nowadays, Pixar Studios's The Incredibles has scenes with content such as Mrs. Incredible thinking Mr. Incredible is having an affair... Seriously. I think the last thing we'll see is another Jar Jar Binks. Funny scenes are used on SW with C3PO and R2D2, and considering Disney's quality, I think we could be expecting stuff like Genndy Tartakovsky's visions or even. I don't get why fans are so harsh about things changing. It's my opinion, of course, but I don't think of it necessarily as a bad thing to come... And to be honest, nobody really thought the last films were flawless. On the contrary, all I heard was complaints, except for the Obi Wan vs Anakin's fight scene an John William's compositions :p

Yeah, I guess that should be "himself." :-)

English isn't my first language and I never quite mastered all its intricacies. Thus I constantly risk making an ass of myself. :-)

Nah. That's a perfectly grammatically correct sentence. Oneself simply refers to people in general, including but not limited to the person mentioned. So if you'd written "himself" that would suggest the art of Tarantino making an ass of himself in particular, but "oneself" would suggest the art of making an ass of yourself in general. It could also be used as a way of refering to a general person who's been previously mentioned if you put it like, "one has perfected the art of making an utter ass of oneself", or "one makes an utter ass of oneself if one does that".
