Yeah, so the newest version of Skype is just.... whatever. My Skype was bugging out and rearranging my messages so i decided to update. When I did it fixed everything! Great! One day I decide to show my friend my screen... Nope. Gotta pay for that and get Skype PREMIUM.

Screen sharing lets you share your computer screen with anyone on Skype. For example, you can display presentations, show friends and family your photos without having to send them, or show someone how something works on your PC.

You can share your screen with one person for free, however, for group screen sharing, you’ll need Skype Premium.

Before you share your screen, make sure that you have:

The latest version of Skype.
A broadband internet connection.
A computer with at least 1 GHz CPU and 512 MB memory.
Skype Premium (for group screen sharing)

Basically you want to have your own miniature livestream on Skype you need to pay. You want to stream (which can be VERY bandwidth hogging among a group) Pay for it.

skype is convenient, but its recent development has only scared me so far, and that's coming from a regularly paying skype user.

Could hardly see anything on skype screen share anyway. Try Join.me, or livestream, or teamviewer, or tinychat. I like to use the first 2 and hear good things about the last =)

You can tell certain software where to get the cam image from, if skype lets you just set it to the screen output. Of course if you want to switch back to the actual cam image you have to mess around in the settings again. Either that or sign up for a Twitch account and do a private streaming.

At work, we use Skype for face to face and mikogo for screen sharing. We found that MIkogo does a great job in making text readable.
