    P.O.W.! Challenge 65 (A-B-C) Horrors upon Disasters

In all P.O.W.! Challenges, you can interpret the art any way you wish, and the more creatively, the better. Any media. B&W or Color, unless we specifically point out otherwise.

Topic 65A: Horror upon Horrors (Open)
One for the Hallow'een Season. Something horrible does something horrible to something or someone. Make it visceral and as gross as you can. I want you to challenge your self to make the most horrible thing you can think of.

Topic 65B: The Great Storm (Story)
Maybe a little bit on the nose, this one... The Great Storm is coming, and your protagonists must survive it somehow! Lots of environments here, lots of action. Your protagonists are tense, weary and ragged - or are they prepared, ready and waiting? Either way, the storm hits and they must deal with the effects.

    Topic 65C: Special Effects (Environment)
Draw an environment from A or B above being affected by the Theme - so either the moment the storm hits or being destroyed by a monsters fire breath/stomped into kindling/eaten/blown apart by telekinesis/etc. One or more panels!

One or All-Deadline: Wednesday, December 05th, 2012, 11:59 pm anywhere in the world.

You can present your solution as a minimum of TWO pages to any practical maximum you wish. Previously, we encouraged standard comic book pages, but it's beyond time to broaden the challenge in P.O.W.! Your pages can be any format, but make sure they line up to the same specs for each page.

Standard comic specs are below...and, yes, you can have the first or last (or both) as a splash page if you want--just don't get TOO extreme on page counts.

REMEMBER: You don't have to have a complete comic to qualify for polling--if you realize you're running out of time, try to get at least TWO pages finished by the deadline. That's all you need to qualify for polling..

    Standard Comic Book Size:

    --Trim size: 6 5/8" x 10 1/4"
    --Live art area: 6" x 9"
    --Bleed size before trimming: 6 7/8" x 10 1/2" (1/8" in all directions)

    .................................................. .............................

    Good luck.

To all of you who have supported the P.O.W.! Challenges, from the bottom of my heart I thank you. Cheers you guys. P.O.W.! People are the best people.

Just a reminder--those of you who didn't get a chance to finish exactly the way you wanted to, or ran into deadline problems, remember there is a sticky section where you can post your stuff when you do get it up to speed.

Huh, weird. I made a poll thread for the last one and it vanished. Maybe I was tired and did something wrong? Hold on and I'll try again in a bit.

I've been neglecting you, my poor POW!'ers. My day job has been beating me down for the last while, but that's the way day jobs do. Here was a great post on art materials and comic-ing and art materials I quite enjoyed.

Does it have to be a natural storm? Or can it be like alien sewage system causes space cloud that hovers over earth every few centuries

Woops! Sorry guys, I have completely lost track of time. I thought this Sunday was the last Sunday of the month, not realising that the deadline was actually 5 days ago! December is a long month anyway in POW! terms cos the 30th will be the next end-point.

I'll put a little extension on this one - just til Wednesday the 5th - in case there was any hesitation or confusion cos you didn't hear from me, but I'll also post new topics this Sunday (the 2nd) to get people started.

Awesome. Sorry about that, I've been snowed under with Christmas Commissions. Hope everyone else is keeping busy. Any POW!'ers thinking about going to the workshop in London? I will almost definitely be there.
