In case any of you guys want to join up on this month long Environment of the Week challenge:
http://conceptart.org/forums/showthr...-SPECIAL-ROUND
TOPIC: A Long Journey Ahead
Topic Brief: For this special round, you can interpret this topic pretty widely. Imagine that you are a traveler and you are gazing out over a vast desert horizon, or standing atop a snow mountain and surveying the treacherous path set before you by nature. Think about this topic openly and broadly. Focus on the sense of having a long journey ahead of you and let your spirit guide you to whatever destination awaits you.
Firstly, the winning entry will be put on the new banner of EOW! It’s time for a change since the old one needs updating, and so the winners’ art will become the face of EOW for another 100 rounds!
Secondly, there will be prizes! Awesome prizes at that too. (they haven’t been confirmed yet, but cross your fingers)
Prizes:
For this very special round of EOW there will be prizes beyond the mere honor of winning the poll! Jason and MB have been so good as to provide the following prizes:
1st Place:
- A ticket for the next Massive Black Workshop (or for any workshop really, to be used only once though).
- Downloads of all Massive Black and CA Tutorial and Instructional DVD’s
- An art book of your choice off of any internet seller (Must be $50 USD or less, bought and paid for by yours truly!)
2nd Place:
- Downloads of up to 6 Massive Black and CA Tutorial and Instructional DVD’s.
3rd Place:
- Downloads of up to 2 Massive Black and CA Tutorial and Instructional DVD’s.
DEADLINE: Friday, 21 December
Yes, this will be a month long contest instead of the normal two weeks.
Are you guys entering on the contest Syle posted?
Anyways, keep posting! this looks like a ghost town
Here is something fun i did yesterday.

Looks good, Eddy. I like the focus/sharpness in the face; it keeps the viewers attention right there. Also, good sense of blur motion going on with the background. The only critique I have right now would be that the front foot looks a little funny; the angle that it's resting on the board doesn't feel quite right.
PS: I will be updating tonight. I didn't have time this morning to take any pictures or upload anything.
Your last image is very nice!
However, the arms are too short in my opinion. Also, the front foot seems short or something like that.
But the colors and the sense of movement are breathtaking! Keep up the good work
Still learning how to hold a pencil.
My Sketchbook!
Syle: good to hear that!
Daria: thanks!
For the critiques, both of you are right, to be honest i used a photo ref from an adult surfer and i think i failed adapting the proportions to a 14 year old.
Just some really sketchy stuff (no pun intended heh). Also, my wife and I ordered up a scanner/printer today, so no more crappy camera pics!!!
looks like you have been working hard, nice sketches, specially the perspective related ones.
I'm enjoying this 3P perspective stuff.
Another 3P doodle.
Eddy: are you going to partake in the EoW challenge? I have no intentions/illusions of actually winning (or even placing :lol, but it might be good practice for all of us to try our best at it...?
Some perspective/enviro study thumbnails.
nice ones! i'm still swamped in my current illustration, not much time left for sketches or studies. No good! i will take a intensive study routine right after i finish.
Btw, i dont think i'm going to participate in the EOW, landscapes are my weakest point.![]()
your shape collections look cool, where you make a bunch of curvy cubes, nice stuff
here is a base for character design, i will post some finished design sketches later.

Nice Eddy. Good line rhythm going on. Good proportions; damn, even bald she is looking pretty curvy/sexyWhat's this character all about?
PS: Good job on the feet. She looks pretty well grounded.
Thanks Syle!
I´m working on it right now, so much fun!
She will be a main character in my graphic novel project, i already posted lots of previous sketches about her in my sketchbook.
More sketchy stuff dump. Nothing impressive, just putting in some more time. At some point in the near future, I will be designing the cover artwork for my band's new album. I'll hopefully be spending most of my future time working on that and posting the progress in here.
Right now, our working album title is "All the Windows of the World". So, I am going to see what I can come up with for imagery on that; I already thumbnailed a few ideas in those first two drawings. The album art will be a wrap around type of a compositions, hence the "Widescreen" framing going on.
i didnt know you were a musician Syle, thats pretty cool.
I used to play the electric guitar a few years ago, but i really never learned to play more than smoke on the water haha.
here is the finished concept i posted the other day.
