Common sense. That's what we do here and the first truth about drawing is that the more you draw the more you'll get better so a sketchbook is required, and it's a must if you want to keep track of your progress.

lol well, the one thing to hone your skills is to keep drawing, lots of different stuff
In one of (concept artist)Feng's videos he mentioned how when he was young he wanted to design for games, so he took whatever paper he could find - line paper, printing paper, the backs of magazines - and he just drew things on it, drew ideas, everything :s
    That's step one - drawing a lot.

If you're looking for people who can help hone your skills, well, you're here -> A forum for concept art :0 Post a sketchbook in the sketchbook thread and start from there. You can consult with us, we can give you feedback, and it goes from there
Now go make that scrapbook 8D

if we can't see em, we can't help you with em. concept art and concepts merge when you introduce the visual part of it. even if your ideas are just words at this point, write them down as they come, locate them, and then work on bringing them to life.
take a peek at my SKETCHBOOK?

hey, I agree with last person: show us your stuff. I think if you are talking about the difference in approach to your concept art- you must mean technical art right? conceptualizing the reality of technologies from real life; as oppose to- just sketching cool visuals. So, things like car design, or product design, not entertainment design or graphic design. The term is quite thrown around honestly lol. But like I said, you have to show us your stuff!

Also, there is the more academic term (i guess) of concept art: meaning, abstract visuals or metaphoric art that could utilize real-life elements or have a technical approach to it.

But we won't know what kind of "concept art" you are insinuating- without the visuals to express them to us. Have fun!
