I have always liked the Halloween tradition. But here in South Africa it is not big and few people bother with it at all. So I'll be doing nothing for Halloween. :-)

I'm going to be madly finishing my uni assignments (last week of the year). lol.

... So, most likely pulling an all nighter... So we can assume that I'm going to "dress up" as a "student-zombie".

The problem with Halloween here in South Africa is that it is spring/early summer here, and Halloween fits in better with autumn. Our local pagans do in fact celebrate their Halloween in autumn, around March or something. But then it is out of step with the northern hemisphere Halloween. Perhaps I should do a uniquely African Halloween thing and dress up as tokoloshe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tikoloshe) :-)

Yeah, but there's enough overpriced halloween candy in the stores to make you think it was some kind of entrenched tradition here.
I do spot sprogs dressed up in costume and such. I used to celebrate halloween by egging people with my mates.

Here in Gauteng the supermarkets skipped Halloween and went straight in with Christmas advertisements.

Yes, true that. I guess its really the woolworths food markets that do the halloween stuff. (We have one up the road...convenient -and- pricey.)

Well, I get the impression that Halloween is mostly an upmarket thing here. I don't see it being celebrated in the townships any time soon. :-)

I could really get behind Halloween, any excuse to remember horror stuff, eat candy and have fun is fine by me. but really here i´ve been hearing Christmas music all week and stores are already decorating.

Theres few kids on the buildings that do insist on trying the trick or treat thing every year, but they just end up failing and looking like a bunch of weirdos.

Halloween is not really a thing here though in recent years it has imbued a bit with young folk. But we do have a costumed candyrun tradition on 10th November. I haven't done that since maybe third grade so me and a bunch of friends though of doing it for the lulz this year. Anything goes for the costume really but the general rule has usually been a mustache/beard and anything that makes you look like a hobo grandfather.
