Are we back on completely?

I am rather confused.

It seems like the forum is back on, but it has some sort of unfinished air to it. The gallery of artists is gone, the thumbnails in art posts are stretched all weird, and worst of all it seems like we lost a lot of people (I might be wrong, but it seems more barren).

Is everything officially back on, or this is still WIP?

I'm rather glad that the large block of thumbnails at the top is gone. It was rather irritating to have to scroll down every time to get to the forum.

Yeah man, I dig the grid. For me its what makes this place CA...but we had a thread like that not to long ago.

Not much to add to what BS has said. There's a lot going on in the background to improve the whole of conceptart.

I just always wished it was either smaller or small, but expandable.
Or at least more cleverly laid out to be less intrusive (like bordering the site or something...or even at the bottom).

I realize a lot of artists need that kick in the pants or something to aspire to. But if your main driving force as an artist is to "be at the top of CA.org", I think your passion is misplaced. Severely.

I liked the grid when I first found CA years ago, and maybe my passion was misplaced, whatever, but it definitely did inspire me. If they could do it (make work like that), maybe I could have a go too.
Nows the time for a new crop of folks to go up there.

I feel like the amount of time this is taking made Ca took a giant hit on its population. I don't know if we can recover the people we lost. It seems so empty now. And I have to admit, I just kind of want the old forum back, I like none of this new stuff.

I am especially annoyed by how I can no longer jump to another forum from the forum menu on the bottom. Before I would always use it, scroll through the forums and click on it. Now I can scroll through it but clicking doesn't make it go.

It did contain some awesome art, mind you. But I would agree with Dusty that it would be nice if it was made small and expandable.

I know this sounds funny but did you clear your cookies, log out and log back in to try it? I had caching issues earlier but I'm able to navigate fine with the button you are talking about.

As an example, I really miss that while browsing sketchbooks...to be able to direct link back to sketchbooks without using the "quick navigation" or scrolling all the way back up top again.

This isn't supposed to be a complaint so I hope it doesn't come across that way, but I was wondering if the e-mail notifications for subscribed threads are going to be coming back or if they were removed because they could clutter up inboxes pretty quickly?

Okay, let's make a list

Email notification - it's just as easy to click on settings and it doesn't clog up your inbox, but I'll ask again.
Stick the old navigation tools back at the bottom, not that quick navigation, which takes longer. We need instant gratification even if 'top' or 'home' suffices.
Background on sprites to match forum background - poor Elwells' horse is stuck in a box - I've already mentioned this.
Sort threads by rating, even if the rating system is flawed - you will miss a lot of good stuff and click on bad stuff that is popular - your funeral.
Somewhere to buy the downloads or streaming classes - it's been asked for.
Put back the donation button as upgrades cost big time - I've asked for this twice.

Did I miss anything?

I didn't dig the grid, took way too much vertical space. A 1 or 2 line grid that could scroll sideways would be interesting tho.
I'm happy with the update so far, vBulletin is quite a complex beast. The only thing that annoys me a little is the menu being squashed between the 2 banners. It should be either above or below them, it also has an extra |.

I like it this way because it gives me an opportunity to correct my bad English, poor syntax, spelling, and non existent sentence structure after hitting the reply button prematurely

I have to say that I miss the emails to subscribed threads as well. My email box is so empty without them, maybe I'm just one of those sad lonely types that spend too much time doing art and needs to get out more!

I also miss being able to hover over the star ratings to see how many people have voted. I used to find this helpful when deciding whether to click or not. Did anyone else use this?

But why should there be a donate button? Before Ca had plenty of ads, and also tons of TAD ads. This is not a charity here, there were links to massive black videos, students from Ca applying to TAD,etc. That was all well and fine by me and I'm sure paid for the website maintenance 10fold.
