    ROUND #277, GAS GUZZLER

    topic:

    ROUND#277, GAS GUZZLER

this week i would like to look at an alternate universe where the automobile was never invented. instead, humans get around riding on a creature that lives entirely on gasoline.

the creature should have evolved an internal biological system that transforms gas into energy, like an engine. as well as being a creature that is gentle and well trained, living only for the promise of more sweet gasoline. in short... a biological car.

    requirements this week...

    - the creature should be able to transport human beings.

    - you should show that the creature uses gasoline for energy. for example... giving off combustion smoke, visible heat from within its body where it gives converts gas. etc.

    - think about locomotion. it needs to transport humans rapidly, but comfortably.

    Deadline:

    October 30th 7:00pm PST (GMT -8 )

Here's my first idea after reading the brief. The idea is that this guy uses gasoline as fuel to make hot gas that fills his butt so he can levitate over the ground. He has pockets in his puch that can release the air so he can regulate his buoyancy. And he uses his arms/legs to drag himself forward, I think he may be a slow started but he can probably come up in some good speeds and a very smooth ride.
I wasn't sure if I wanted to do another insect like creature as I did last chow, but I kind of like this concept so far. Any feedback is appreciated.

Oh and I have a question. In the rules for chow it says no clothing or accessories, but I was thinking because this creature is one that humans use as transportation, is it okay to show how you handle this creature with harnesses and seats etc.?

    Thanks

alexson - I think that's a fair judgement. How you handle the creature can, I think, be an accessory, but try and minimize the amount of inorganic elements.

    Floating Garbleblatter

Here's a WIP for my idea... Im thinking of making the floating Gargleblatter a living blimp. It ignites the gas within its cheeks and funnels the heated air into special air sacks in its abdomen. I still have to put the ppl in it and havent decided whether to make then ridden or as a blimp with a basket hanging from them... im leaning towards more of basket.

When endangered it brings its tail up allowing its back orifice to open letting out a sudden stream of air allowing it to be propelled quickly forward in a zig-zag position (much like a deflating baloon) it usually stays up in the air above the reach of common predators and floats allowing with the occasional push from "behind" and steering with its wings.

I hope some luggage on that beast doesn't come under "accessories". Does it?

I am painting after a long time(8-9 months). Spent some 10 -15 min on this.

    Comment please.

By the way, I know about the accessories. Please let me have fun for some time . Probably I will remove it before submitting the final piece.

New to this. My WIPs are kind of broken because I took bad photos of the start. After doing this I realized how unclear the idea was from the drawing, learned a fair bit. If I get time in the week I'll paint it but doubt I will. Thanks.
