What kind of art is this?

    Hi all!

Newbie here. I had a question about art style (Abstract, Surreal, etc.). I am working on a project for my art appreciation class, and I need to find a piece of artwork to do a report on along with an actual piece of artwork created by me. I am trying to figure out what kind of style I have. Below are the links/attachments for two drawings I did in colored pencil. Can anyone help me determine whether these are surreal, abstract, or something else? I want to find an artist who does similar work to me so I can expand my understanding of the work I do as well. (Note I am barely a beginner artist lol).

I'd say your work leans towards the symbolist style. Good luck with the project.

The closest thing might be surrealism, although that's not a "style", it's more of a philosophy or way of thinking...

Actually, "style" is not really the right word to use when referring to most art movements or philosophies. Many movements have had artists working in quite different styles, but with similar goals and ideas.

Anyway, if you look up surrealism, that should get you off to a good start, I think.

Thank you everyone for your responses! I'm not exactly an artist, and am returning to college after 10 years. My art classes in high school consisted of sitting in a room with your friends and drawing something. LOL So, I don't know anything about art really other than I like to draw or carve things sometimes.

    Thanks again, everyone!

    I’d call it Primitive Pop.

They look like some sort on odd non-canonical Tarot Cards:

The "Thirteen Of Crosshairs" and the "Two Of Hypno-Buildings."

    Got anything else?

Yes, this looks like some kind of neo-expressionism (Penck and Basquiat come to mind)...
