I've been drawing for about a year or two now and it seems to be a lately discovered talent. I want to get into concept art, illustration, and later animation.
I have never reached out for critique from another artist and I rarely draw from reference which seems to have put me in a viscous cycle of bad habits that are difficult to break out of and yet i still can't quite put my finger on what they are.

Hopefully you guys can enlighten me as i proceed to dump my various doodles. 99% of these are not finished.

A favorite artist of mine drew a dinosaur on the back of a check one day. I wanted to try the same after eating sushi, thought maybe they would foot the bill for me.

    Hey
Thanks for view my sketchbook! your hint was very good!
Your digital arts are very pretty, but maybe you wish free your trace a little bit in drawing.
When I started, was indicated to me 'Fun with a pencil' of Andrew Loomis. This is a very very good and fun book(In my conception, was more philosophical than tecnical)
After that figure drawings books are always welcome!
Keep the work buddy, and the advices will come.

Thanks for the feedback! I hope to see us both achieve greatness.
And What do you mean by "free your trace a little bit in drawing" ?

and, I try to mean to you get a trace more loose,'flexible'.
by the way, this can help you to make more natural the drawings from mind(sorry for my bad english =p)

Hey, great start! Can't believe you've only been drawing for a couple of years! You have a good grasp on light and shadows, and I think your pencil lines are very nice! I think you (as we all need to!) would benefit from doing photo studies, in both greyscale and then colour of figures and environments, try doing speed paints and longer studies. That will help you, when you come to do it from your mind to jump to realistic form and colour more naturally. For studies of people, this website http://artists.pixelovely.com/practi...igure-drawing/ is a fantastic resource, if you haven't seen it up to now! Keep it up! (:

Gleisson C - Just getting our terms right, by trace you mean draw, right? Nobody is tracing here!
And yea i think i could loosen up my arm a bit when doing line drawing like in the pencil sketches.

A-May - Gotchya, I will do a photo study in greyscale of a skull or something tomorrow, and thanks for the resource!

Nice SB! You seem to play around with a lot of different stuff thats cool. The colours of the mars pice look pretty nice! As for the most of the people, me included, who are trying to improve there skill I cannot underline more how usefull it would in my opinion be for you to get a good anatomy book that works for you and to do research on the web about fundamentals. Id suggest you to take one thing and to try to push one month long that one thing as high as you can. Then you could either stick to it or mybe do sth. diffrent but I advice you to set yourself a goal and to work towards that goal instead of doodeling. It is helping me personally a lot. Furthermore you are just 17 which is a great age to start studieng structured. Furthermore photostudys are great to improve your digital painting skills as A-May said. Keep it up!
