Working with tablet, trying to draw beautiful old actresses from photos, very relaxing training. I think when I'll do a hundred of them I could draw from imagination in such manner or even better.

My heads from imagination, lots of heads. I think they becomes better anyway

Wow, nice heads from imagination! You should try drawing a head from reference and then use your imagination to draw the same person but from a different angle! I will watch to see your improvement! God bless you!![]()

Fernando Mendoza, thanks dud, I followed your advise and that's what happened. Semi imaginary drawings, using refs to construct heads from imagination:

Make sure you are conscious of what you are drawing also. For me at times it seems like I zone out when drawing from reference. Although the drawings looks like the picture, I feel like I didnt take in what I just drew. So make sure you understand every single line you draw, why you draw it, and how to draw it again. Almost like making it into a formula. Memorize it. Like kids, when they learn to draw something and they keep drawing it over and over simply because its something they can do easily. For me for instance, its easy to draw a face in profile. The contour just comes easy. All I need to do is memorize other face angles and then I will be able to manipulate it later on once I am consistent enough.
And another thing. I think it would be a good thing to go back and correct your drawings from imagination using your reference. I plan to do this. If something turned out wrong, then I would like to correct it. This way you learn why it looks wrong and dont end up repeating the same mistakes and dont build up the habit of leaving things incorrect. The point of training isnt to draw a lot, but to understand by drawing. God bless you!![]()

Xcarbon, thanks for looking in and commenting my sketchbook. Last posts from refs, I think I'll draw animals from imagination not so soon as I wish to ;(
Again ramped to draw some heads of my co-workers and parents, but I'll draw birds and wings at an early date (not heads, not heads).

I like the dynamism of the poses. The still life is great , although you need to establish darker values on the faces and etc. The values look a bit flat. Waiting for more before I say anything else. On the right track though.

Whirly, thanks a lot. I'll try to add more value in my sketches you're right, Rostas, thanks.
Another animal studies: bison studies. And two-hour lieutenant Colombo studies. I peek him to study his coat, oooh, it's so difficult to paint it for such a beginner like me. Next time I'll try to choose something simpler.

Copies of old beautiful illustrations and some unskillful imitation

Aw-snap . I knew it was Colombo ,although didn't read the comment xD. Nice going. I loved Colombo and I still do. Detective series has surely sunk in a hole.
Midsommer was great , and so was Inspector Morse. I seem to like police drama on the British side more.
Anyways keep it up.
