DOOOOONE. Talk about an expensive application though. $20 itoya, $20 ish to print everything nicely, $50 fee, $35 mailing fee. Bah. :c

Yeah it's quite expensive, especially for me since I had to pay a $62 mailing fee. I might go around to a printing store nearby and get my stuff quickly printed and swap it out with my own crappy prints.

I got my itoya for $12, you bought the 8.5x11 one, right? Also, so soon do you forget the $95 ocad fee.
Oh I wish I had found this forum before I started my portfolio the support would have been great. Unfortunately I started late and some of my stuff was rushed but I got it sent off yesterday fingers crossed. Best of luck to everyone![]()
Good luck to you guys! Sorry I haven't been posting here for any of the Illustration hopefuls, I've gotten busy.
I hope you all get fair judges,
Whaaat, where did you get that so cheap? :c Yeah, I got the 8x11 one. Baah.
I'm with yahualli. OfficialLamp, I remember you from last year and I was bummed when you didn't get in. :/ Best of luck to everyone! I got my portfolio critiqued by a Sheridan graduate a few days ago and she mentioned that they were changing a few things from the previous years and were accepting more spots. Which is good/bad since we have a better chance of getting in, but with a less teacher to student ratio. (Her words, not mine. :d)
I actually heard that there are plans to change Sheridan college into a university.
>>DeviantArt|SketchBook<<
@kamil: I read somewhere that 2017 was the target year for the conversion. I'm hoping to get in there and get out before it happens. Changing to university usually spells disaster for students.

Changing to University status might not affect the animation program all that much. It was already hit really hard when it changed into a degree and it lost a lot of great teachers who didn't have high enough degrees.
Also, this thread is going to be super fun now because no one is working anymore and it's just all activity.
Well yeah I heard a lot of teachers had to leave and that some of em actually started teaching over at Seneca. I uploaded my portfolio to my sketchbook though some of the images are flipped in weird ways and some are too small. If anybody is interested I am a part of a skype study group where we do assignments to help ourselves improve http://conceptart.org/forums/showthr...-Support-Group if anybody is interested I can introduce you to the group and perhaps do assignments in the meantime until we here whether we get in or not.

Hmm, I remember hearing that conversion thing last year too. Someone mentioned that the change would make the animation program more essay heavy.
ALSO finally uploaded my portfolio. http://jouchellemiranda.wordpress.co...dan-attempt-2/

Critiques and opinions would be lovely. :3
I wanted to mention something that I noticed on Wednesday on the portfolio requirements it said the portfolio must be postmarked no later than Feb 22 but one my event Registration email it said they needed to receive it no later than Feb 22 I emailed them to ask and said I'd be sending on Feb 21 and wanted clarification if it was postmark or delivery by Feb 22 they wrote back and said just send it no later than Feb 21 and gave me no further insight.. Anyone have any info on that? Cause it would have been nice to have that extra day.
I sent it today and specifically asked for them to stamp/write on it that it was marked to have gone out on the 22nd. It doesn't have to be received by the 22nd because then you'd have to do a bit of guesswork. Basically, postmarked no later than 22nd means you shouldn't be going to the post office later than that date and it should be indicated on your package.
That's what I figured but it was the ominous "just send it no later than February 21" made me nervous.... Really frustrating
I'm just nervous that they might have an error with mailing it and it'll get sent back. What then? >_<;
Oh jeez same here.... I'm gonna be a bag of nerves until the tracking says it's delivered and then more nerves until they make a decision... I also applied to game design and illustration... Unfortunately I couldn't get the iillustration portfolio done in time![]()
it says it needs to be courier stamped by no later than feb 22. I am pretty sure they would not really ask for it to be by there door at feb 22 since it's the courier's responsibility to deliver it on time and that you have no influence over it also the people dropping it off do it a week later so I guess they give it a week to reach hence the earlier deadline for mail-in portfolios.

Hey guys, just emerging from the lurking shadows. I had the exact same worry so I called the office of the registar and the woman said that as long as it is stamped for the 22nd then it's all good or at least that's what she said to me.![]()
You guys should be fine. My first try at the portfolios, I called about the same thing because I got confused. I had it couriered the friday, they got it early next week, and marked it. You won't get the score for awhile, though. Good luck though everyone. I'm looking forward to submitting it mondayAfterwards I'll try to post what I did. I know I ended up lurking on here, but I liked reading all the tips.
Sup lurkers! I am going to speak directly to you because I know you exist (Or at least, 100 views on my portfolio over the last 2 days says so). I really hope that you all benefited from this forum as much as the people posting have because holy shit, Sheridan's portfolio is a nightmare. But now it's the final stretch, you lovely lurkers, so get pumped! Give it a running leap! Lay all your cards on the table and, I promise you (speaking from experience), you will be okay regardless of the results.
Don't be strangers! (but no pressure if you really don't want to)
Lurkers come on out! we won't bite, conceptart itself is a great site for resources and getting to know fellow artists! so it won't hurt to post
.
Speaking about laying cards on the table and such, does anybody want to setup a tinychat meeting just to talk and chill there. It makes the conversations flow a lot easier.

I just hate how it takes forever to get my posts confirmed before it's shown, really a turn off in starting any convos!
I'm actually not done my portfolio but Im hoping to finish today!! Just gotta do cleanups and finish off storyboard ahhh
edit: whoa my post's been posted without any need for approval?![]()
@Mieket Yeah you don't reallly need approval as long as you don't attach images or anything which may be considered spammy. Just have a convo with me and we will get you to a good amount of posts although I actually thought you might have racked up some more considering you were on the sheridan information please thread last year.
Funny thing is that I've been warned a million times to start making the portfolio early yet I though that it included practice time for portfolio. Guess I was wrong xD!
>>DeviantArt|SketchBook<<
Oh I forgot to say, Official. that your submission is a step above your last one. I'm surprised you don't see improvement. I thought you deserved it last year, but this year it would be criminal for you not to get in.
The marking can be so finicky sometimes, you need some luck and some skill.
I also want to say hi! to the lurkers. the posting system here is a bit messed up. your first 10ish posts will be moderated, unless you keep links out of it, and keep it concise. once you hit 10 posts you are golden!
I'm going to start linking portfolio's on the front page for easy access. if you want to opt out, just tell me.
The bad thing about doing all these portfolios for college/university is that I didn't take time for school and my grades are suffering.
My last drawing class project was horribly butchered. oops.
When you get into sheridan I doubt that one drawing assignment will mean shit-all. lol.
I'm going to have so much time after the 25th, time to do actual art that I enjoy. Honestly, I'm sick of my hands and my rooms and those god damn objects.
Thanks Official. I mainly stuck to lurking because the posting system made it hard to post drawings. I guess a few more posts than I can post a link (once I scan my drawings). I just need to drawing a person into my room first. The site had helped though. if I don't get into Sheridan I am going to Seneca to do their animation program![]()
OMG...I have been missing for weeks...oh gawd. I will be posting up my portfolio by tuesday x_x. It has been a pleasure being on this forum! I am glad to say everyone stands a chance this yearand your portfolio especially Official makes me smile
its sooo goood! okay...back into the shadows x_x I have labels to put down and pictures of painting to print o^o. Btw, how much did I miss? :3
Hey guys, I think I'll finally join the convo. Just finishing up my portfolio, to submit it on the 27th! Will post it in the next few days!
I think the biggest thing that I realized from this portfolio experience is that I absolutely cant wait for this to be my career. I've been working on this portfolio for the last 2 months straight, slaving over the pieces hours and hours at a time, and I can honestly say that I loved every minute of it. Welllll.... Id rather be working on more Exciting pieces, thats for sure
, but you get my point heh.
