Hello! Tiny, bad update. Not the best new page starter. I’m going to try and make some goals for this month so everything isn’t so overwhelming. I feel like I’ve done the opposite of improve lately. D:

I like to see the Michael Hampton studies in there. Above all figure drawing resource, his has really been the most helpful to me as it gives a concise, digestible way to take in how to construct the figure from both reference and the imagination. I'd also say that grouping your figure studies in with basic perspective study will help to push you along even more.

MrFrenik – Yep, his work is definitely a great help in regards to really breaking down the figure I need to look at perspective a lot more so thank you for mentioning it!

Time to get back to daily updates and also time to get back to doing some serious work. Here’s some stuff from today, I’m having scanner problems again so excuse the terrible photos. I didn’t do as much as I could have done; it seems that I fell victim to procrastination. But tomorrows a fresh start. I should hopefully be starting some life drawing classes soon as well.

    Denzalan – Thank you!

    Matcha – Thanks

I went to my first ever life drawing class today, I photographed a couple of the poses I did I think there was about 6 in total. And some pen studies. I did a bit more but it isn’t really worth posting.

Hello! Have some of my Photoshop fail from today. There’s a quick still life of an onion as well that made me feel slightly more positive about things. Slightly. Haha.

Tiny, bad update. I was trying to look at colour but it didn't really work. I need to stop being so unproductive during the hours I have at the weekend. There's a bit more but it isn't much better than this... I should have a lot more for tomorrow

kevin_ - thanks for the comment I’m in a constant battle with Photoshop but I’m trying to find a technique that works for me.

Studies and stuff, with obligatory Photoshop terribleness.

Hello! A quick update. We had to use charcoal and chalk for life drawing today which I struggled with quite a bit but it was good to try things I don’t normally do. And there’s some anatomy stuff but it’s not too great.

Hello I’ve been trying to get better with skin tones… Then I tried one from imagination but all of my imagination stuff looks the same each time. I need to actually be creative and stop worrying that it’ll be dreadful: P Updates may be a bit smaller than usual over the next week due to me allowing college work to build up and my birthday and such. I’ll still try and do as much as I can, though.

You've got great lines and the colours are decent too but pay more attention to values (how light and dark things are). You can learn them by doing black and white studies. Keep it up

Jondawo – Thank you! And you’re right, I seem to be incapable of painting shadows, I’ll definitely work on that!

So, turning 19 was a real kick, it’s really hit me lately that this is something I really want to do. I may not have a lot of time to update over the next few days if I want to make the most of the time I’ll have drawing. But after Christmas I’ll be able to return posting more I’m going to really get on with doing the fundamentals since, as mentioned, I’m struggling with values and colour etc. Anyway, enough rambling.

    Hello

Sorry for the lack of updates, I won’t bore you with reasons. I’ve planning on doing a self-portrait in Photoshop everyday this month just as a bit of a challenge, really. I’m also doing 100 faces from imagination which is actually helping quite a bit; I’ll probably post them when I’m done

So this is just a little update to show I’m still alive and drawing.

Amazing stuff! You have a great eye for color (love all the portraits) and I really like the clear lines in the figure drawings
Please take a look at my Sketchbook! <- Comments are highly appreciated and returned C:

NizhoniWolf- Thank you! It’s great to know that it can help

Heyriel- Thanks It’s nice to know my colours are looking okay because I think it’s definitely one of my many weak points.

Just some Photoshop stuff today. I’ll scan some sketchbook work tomorrow I’ve been looking into what I really need to focus on, now it’s just sorting out my terrible time management and really working hard.

kevin_ - Thanks for the advice; I’m definitely going to really start working on that.

Quick update. Believe it or not the portrait from imagination was an attempt to look at colours and skin tones I definitely need to start painting more from life again because I really want to get to grips with colour.

Daily self-portrait. I didn’t push the values as much as I could have.... I haven’t been able to do as much as I would have liked today so I’ll try and make up for it tomorrow
