    My First Sketchbook

Hey, Ojseve here. I'm 20 years old atm and have drawn for about two years. I practice my art everyday and hope to get into the illustration/design industry in some point of my life. I'm still not very experienced with computer drawing, but I try my best to improve.

    Here's some drawings.

If any one of you great artists could point me somewhere I could practice the skills I seem to lack, it would be much appreciated!

As far as your painting of the creature is concerned, try to not blend your values so much or switch to a hard edged brush. I have the same issue! Do more of those structural breakdowns, it will really help you when you are drawing from your imagination.

Yeah, I realized the problem when I noticed I can't mix hard brushes in that image at all. Thanks for the tip!

    I'm done with this study.
I started up doing this all wrong, which led to great frustration later on. I wrote down some notes for myself about this one:

Sorry about the low content, I don't have a scanner handy where I live atm. I can scan pictures during the weekends.

    Here's a bunch of drawings!
Sometimes I feel like I'm moving too slow in terms of my progress. I guess there's just nothing to it but to keep drawing and practice.

Hey, welcome to CA! I like that you're drawing things from life, I think you should keep doing that. The hand drawings and the nail clippers look good, and those last referenced heads are a good improvement! Keep drawing and posting, I'll be watching!

Started another study, and from advice I've received, I'll pay EXTRA attention to proportions and angles.

Progress on my study. Important steps here are to measure in the face and adjust values I think.

No, important steps are to stop drawing digital and pick up pencil and paper. "I'm still not very experienced with computer drawing, but I try my best to improve." Best way to improve is to draw on paper.

Well, time to resurrect this thread. I've still been drawing every day (although I did keep a few month's break because I was frustrated. It did good!).
I'll post my sketchbook from then up to now later. Have some recent computer drawings for now. Can't use image attachments for some reason, gotta use Imgur.

Oops this thread is dying again.

I've been sick this week, so I've drawn less. Here's a small movie screenshot study in progress.

I still can't use forum attachments for some reason.

Yeah I still have trouble with values. Either it's all too flat or too striking.

I need to drill this into my head

Or maybe not. This was done with the Loomis method but I think I fucked it up or I shouldn't follow Loomis's methods to the point.
More experienced people, can you tell me which of his methods are recommended to follow?
