    Sculpture - The wanderer

    Hey people!
Here's a sculpture that I made and posted it on the Critique Center.

    http://conceptart.org/forums/showthr...5-The-wanderer

It's my first one, and I got a lot of problems with the armature, the baking and the painting.
I don't know if I need to post here again, or just link it to the other thread.
Let me know if it's wrong, than I'll correct it.
I'd be really glad with any opinion about it.
    Thank you everybody...

Nice work L!nk, very good first sculpture you did a great job on the folds in his pants and the abdominal muscles. I some what agree with the comments in the other thread about the pectoral muscles although I don't think they really need to be bigger maybe just a little lower, i think if his arms were a little less bulky it would be fine. More noticeable to me than the pecs were the upraised hand and his eyes, the hand looks a little chubby and the fingers a little short also the wrist looks a bit too thick. I think the eyes could do with being set further back in the head just a bit but they do have a nice old man look to them.

Have you got any photos of the armature before you started adding clay?
I think that is the most over cooked sculpture I've seen, how long did you bake it for?

I'll search for pictures of the first steps. But it was a mess. I didn't made armature for the fingers (that's why the hand is so strange...) and it didn't have any part that I could take of, except the head, wich I made it separetely.
I baked it for 1h30min at 150-180º (I couldn't know the exact temperature, my oven doesn't have this feature...) and I had to take it off 2 times because it fell... I'll post some of the process later.
    And thanks for the feedback!!

150 - 180 celcius is way to hot for Sculpy. That's why it burnt like that. I really liked the sculpt though. Instead of me trying to explain the procedure I've used I'll link you to the thread I got some good info from. http://www.shiflettbrothers.com/foru...c&topicID=4055

You want to be around 225 degrees Fahrenheit. I'm not sure what that is in celcius but I know its a lot less. Raising the temperature over time like in the thread seemed to work well.

Oh boy! Sooo many mistakes!!! I took it off the oven 2 times, and I didn't let it on the oven for cooldown. I'm going to be more prepared next time at least...

Here's some update: I'm starting to sculpt it in Zbrush...

Yep as Dex said 150°C is too hot. If you can, get an oven thermometer so you can see how hot the oven is actually getting. I don't think I've ever used an oven that was actually accurate to what was on the dial, usually at least 10°C lower that it should be.

Here's some progress on detailing and color:

    Name: detalhes.jpg
Views: 730
Size: 289.4 KBName: body with Color.jpg

Question: Should I post the progress here or just on the wip's thread and link it here?

Here's my last attempt at Zbrush 4 in my action figure project.
There's a lot of thing to correct, like blood on the sword and base, the abs and his neck doesn't seem right.
What do you think? I'm really enjoying to learn this wonderful program.
