Hey there, nice sketchbook!
I really like the lizard study you did.
The paintings you do from imagination lack color perspective and the values are kinda strange.
Colors tend to desaturate in the distance, especially reds and yellows.
For checking the values, I use a black layer set to "color" on top of my painting. So, I can turn a B/W mode on and off.
Checking the values of your paintings and studying the values in photographs really helps with the readability of paintings.
Keep up the work!
much appreciated dude! I was scratching my head just now thinking about my perspective issues with color
heres a w.i.p.

Your 40 minute drawing has some nice values going on!
However, your last drawing looks really flat because there are little value differences. Especially between the background and the foreground.
Take a look at atmospheric perspective - also check out some B/W photos to observe how values and distance relate
keep it up!
thanks again man! ya that one was rushed cause it was a challenge piece i ended up doing very late
this is my current w.i.p

Looks nice already – I especially like the orangey shadows to contrast the cyan light. However, the figure has some strange hints to perspective that should be fixed:
I just realized, that the upper body is bent back, so this is not too strange. But for the lower body – if you want to go with this kinda extreme vanishing point to the left – the legs should be at a steeper angle to match the hip's perspective.

aww dude i wish i had seen your post earlier in the night lol gotta take care of the perspective issues tomorrow

I've took the time to extract a possible perspective from your drawing. I've still got the xcf/psd file, if you want to use it.
edit: ups... maybe I should have used your newer image![]()
