    ChOW#302 :: Personal Gremlin

    Character of the Week #302
    Personal Gremlin

Design your own personal mischievous little gremlin

DEADLINE: TUESDAY 16th OCTOBER 8PM GMT+1 (9PM British Summer Time)
    Check your timezone!

Everyone has days where things just seem to go wrong: tools are missing; you can't find that important document; someone ate the last cookie.... it almost feels as though someone is targeting you to have a bad day. Well after a lot of research and many sleepless nights, the ChOW moderators have discovered that every person has their own little gremlin. A mischievous imp who scurries around mostly unseen, tying knots in headphone cables and necklaces, pushing your favorite mug just enough onto the edge of the table so you knock it with your elbow, and turning all the lights to red when you're in a hurry. Unfortunatly the little buggers move so quickly that it's nearly impossible to get a photograph so the ChOW mods would like you to keep your eyes peeled this week and see if you can't catch a glimpse or two of your own little gremlin. Once spotted we advise drawing it out and showing the world.

Gremlins are a menace to our sanity and the truth must be told - so hurry young artists and save the world by showing everyone what is really hiding just out of sight.

(Due to my on gremlins, I will have to upload the new style ChOW pages tomorrow morning)

    The Guidelines:
    • Can be any gender
    • Can be any size - although try to show some sort of scale if possible
    • Gremlins are their own type of creature so try to avoid variations of real animals/creatures to create aunique character.
    • Consider if they wear clothes and if they do, what are they made of given their size?
    • What kind of environment do they live in?
    • Remember that it is semi-intelligent being not an animal!
    • BONUS: Do they have a name?

    THE RULES
In addition to the brief, if you do not follow these rules, you will not be included in the poll.
    • Files must be named: CHoW#301_Username
(Files with any other names such as final.jpg or even chow301final.jpg will not be accepted)
    • Finals must be posted in the finals thread BEFORE the deadline
    • Final post must include the CHoW number and the artists username at the bottom of the image
    • At least 3/4 of the focus character must be visible
    • Follow the brief!

So, here are my first sketches. I think i've got the final idea...when I think i've lost something, in fact that little monster ate it with his huge mouth. He sneaks around my house dressed with an old sock, always looking for his next meal.

As cool as the topic is, the way the the brief itself was written is totally groovy and super inspirational.
I found myself a lot more intrigued than ever by reading that.

I'll have to do some wips and see where it could go.

Awesome ideas so far, guys. I can tell this is going to be a great round.

Some quick ideas, don't think they are quite gremlin, but I do like monocle granpa (Maybe he's a retired gremlin or something)
Will keep silhouette-ing until I find something

Hi, nice ones everybody...i'm working in mine, playing with proportions and checking posible mystakes....i need some opinions about this two versions, wich you consider to work better? In v1 (left) i changed the proportions and direction of the legs....while in v2 , practically isn't developed but you can see the original idea for the legs, a lot more skinnier and maybe irrealistic in terms of directionality (thong maybe more appealing for the illustration?).

Any opinions/suggestion will be appreciated. Thanks.

EDIT: Ok....i went with the original stuff...Name: PERSONAL_GREMLINv04_low.jpg

Oh dear, here is some really good stuff =) Well, I only have some sketches so far. I am struggling with making a decision between the classical "gremlin" stereotype and some new, not so original ideas. Could get a little close with the deadline. I'm sorry that I have no time to write one or two sentences to each picture, but I'll try to find a few minutes for that tomorrow.

WIP for gremlin idea, this is a vicious little bastard, I almost risked my life thinking he was little cute and cuddly. Apparently further investigations revealed that the fur he's wearing is from a squirrel he skinned. Dunno why, maybe he's cold, or for camouflage. Also he likes to chew metal and hard surfaces (clasp on scrunchies, pencil tips. microphone jacks...).

Nice job, everyone! Here is my personal gremlin, he is not as intimidating (or even well drawn!) as most of the entries here, but he is ... persistent.

Too tired to reply friends... need some sleep before work. I am sorry for again not having the time to reply.
Makilolo, elephant, alexon and kor: All of you are doing a great job.

Have to paint this in one layer. I hope the oil does not get tacky in the meanwhile.

Hi, this is my first time posting..
