A line drawing done in Falmouth today. It took me around 3 hours to finish this, which I think is too long.. I need to work on speeding up.

Tried doing another version of the Falmouth drawing. Spicing things up a little. It’s nice knowing that the initial drawing was done from life.

Two drawings done in the local Turo museum. Focusing on the latest project which is drawing from natural specimens. These are two rock crystals. I plan on focusing on vegetation an plants for the next section of the project. Expect some large leaf studies shortly!

A recent project on perspective drawing lead me to produce this quite boring drawing of a jug. Personally I prefer the grid which was just as tricky to draw.

Also, I tried a drawing recently using a stick of silver. Using card covered with white acrylic paint I was able to get a mark from the metal, just like the old renaissance masters.

    Heres one of the drawings.

Recently I have really enjoyed making drawings from the imagination. Especially from landscapes. I'm hoping to try some digital painting as a progression from these. None of this is uni project based. All personal work:

My first two speed painting attempts. I really like them but I still have no idea how you develop them into amazing landscapes. YET.

    New Project!

Brief: Create a drawing which is made up of the following things:

    Plant/Tree
Family group - all genders and ages
    Farmed animals
    Uniformed people
    A place that you visit
    A man made structure
    The weather

Each thing must be obtained from imagination or observation... This is going to be an interesting one! Here is what I have come up with so far:

I'm thinking of having animal testers being chased away by mad animals that they have been experimenting on. Or maybe a huge evolved killer plant?

Some anatomy studies of running people turned into scientists:

Hey man, i've applied for illustration at falmouth next year! You've got some nice drawings in here, I'll have to remember to visit again. In terms of criticism i think your lines are maybe less confident looking than i would like to see, and i think your digitals would improve if you use more opaque colour as if you are painting with thick paint rather than a wash. Keep up the good work and don't worry too much about your speed.

"This drawing was done with ink and a quill which I made out of a feather."

This is my favorite of yours so far. I really like the different textures and lines. The proportions of the buildings in the background look a little off, but this can be corrected by measuring more carefully and checking angles. But overall, I really like the quality of the lines. I too want to work with a quill now!

Thanks Aqualeot. This was certainly one of the drawings which I spent longer on. I can see the proportion mistake too, thanks for pointing it out.

Here is another digital painting that I have done tonight. They seem to be different every time, crazy, but I still love it!

Thanks for dropping by my sketchbook. I really like your studies. I have a little piece of advice. Don't spend so much time "studying" that you don't have time to draw for fun. Rendering is a skill that anyone can develop with enough diligence, but your imagination and style are uniquely yours. In addition to your studies I would love to see a couple drawings that you are passionate about.
    For Science- Sketchbook!

Thanks for this ForScience. I have thought about you comment and I cant agree more. It's tricky to find a good balance of work, play, and personal work in the student lifestyle. I have a few weeks off now, so I should get the chance to branch out into my own imagination a little more

Cheers Sushy, I will be soon! You have some really nice stylised stuff yourself!

You have a LOT of drawings

I really liked the details of the twig and leaves, the horse looks great and I think that's probably the hardest animal to draw. Well everything I saw so far looks great (perspective drawings, life drawings, automobiles).

    Keep it up!

Thanks rappdg, as always there is always room for improvement!

Thanks Classmate. Yes, this was a very time consuming drawing to do, the fact that it was with a quill made it even harder, I had to keep dipping it in the ink + clear blockages etc.. I did it over a week spending around a couple of hours a day on it. Worth it though

Here is a drawing done which is less related to uni. Theres always something exciting about fight scenes I think!
