Meat heads and meat plots

Idk it always seems as though there is someone meat-based
in the way of my progression to the next level.

Whenever I get accepted into a new commission or studio job
there is someone in the studio who doesn't think I can do anything
and I always prove them wrong.

Honestly these gun based "manly" people seem to have been the bane
of my existence even my early years; "You can't like that, it's a baby game
You should play DOOM/Halo/KOTOR" always jeering.

Honestly if the 90's to 00's popularity shift didn't happen
I'd be a super star working on some top tier platformers/rpgs
and the meatheads would be out of luck.

What are your sentiments on this? Are meat types gaining to much control and ruining everything
for folks who aren't meat based? Help me out cartoon fellows.

Those meat heads had to have had the same type of complaints back in the platformer days.

Think of it this way, with less saturation in a genre there's more room for the tiny few that ARE made to be really good. Rayman Origins, Super Meat Boy (heh), 'Splosion Man...

Back in when platformers were huge, that made room for games like Bubsy 3D, Awesome Possum, and Lester the Unlikely.

It's giving a bad name to game design, destroying the imagination of the youth, causing parents
groups to outrage and creating a hateful gaming subculture.

I hear ya on less saturation in the market; but I think it is screwing with my paper; this is no good..
When I first graduated I was about to be admitted into a good studio, but get instantly rejected when
it was run under new management I.E. shooter meat types.

Sometimes I wonder if I should have been directly in the gameart major
(choose media arts because it would give me a broaderskillset)
or I should have been an animator instead of a 3D modeler character modeler.

But I love to make characters, this is a pickle

Seriously, most videogames of today really need these kinds of things. The controls and mechanics are too complicated for most new games for you to just pick up and play, like the old ones.

I think the best way is to have it completely optional, though. Like how the (old) Final Fantasy games, 7 and 8 in particular, would ask you if you don't know the mechanics, and move on if you said "yes, I already know". Then after your first mission (in case you really just fudged your way through) there's an area at your home base that has computers/homeless people/whatever that can tell you any mechanic you might have questions about.

But the CRPG genre has always needed this. Only now have other genres gotten complicated.

Hell, most games these days don't even make instruction booklets! Just a 3 page pamphlet, tops!

are you serious? does the word minecraft ring a bell? finally we re in an age again where good ideas can win, and thanks to kickstarter probably get a funding. its not like only big studios do the games anymore, or that you have to have your marketing plan reviewed by cash-business jerks.
big studios though operate differently... they just go for what is proven to sell... that in itself basically excludes everything new and inovative.
