    Looking for a mentor

    Hey all,

I am completely new to digital art and I'm looking for assistance with all forms of it. Character design, creature design, environments and what have you. I have experience in concept art from college but we did nothing digital there. I recently purchased a tablet but I'm really struggling to get anything decent down on the canvas. So i'm looking for some kind of mentoring to help me progress and do some basic drills and eventually step that up higher and higher.

I am 21 years old and English speaking, I have a hell of a lot of free time on my hands as I am looking for work currently.

I hope somebody has the time to help me out,

    Thanks,

    -Chronic

Making the switch from traditional to tablet can be menacing, in all honesty the only way to get better is the same way you got better at drawing. Just keep doing it. Try and draw straight lines practice basic things. Sign your name. Get yourself used to the orientation of the tablet and how your arm needs to move.

    Cheers for the reply,

I am slowly getting better with it, but I've found with frustration that I am now using it less and less and I have moved back onto drawing traditionally. I will keep going back to using the tablet though, just need to take it slower and not expect to work miracles with it from the word go.

It may be tedious but I found that practicing traditionally and then going and doing the same drawing digitally was a good way to train my hand and eyes operate properly using a tablet.

Yeah, that's a good idea and one that I've been working with recently, it's going very up and down at the moment and I'm finding that it's becoming extremely frustrating borderline tablet smashing right now!

But thanks for the heads up!
