    DSG 1653: Sci-Fi • EXPLORERS APPROACH LARGE ALIEN BUILDING SURROUNDED BY DEAD FOREST

    .

    [ Alright, well this website seems to be mostly functional again, so... you know... welcome back. ]

    [ *Ahem* ]

    [ The old weathered husks of things that used to be large foresty foliage provide a haunted setting for some otherworldly structure. ]

    [ And of course the figures who have come across this scene provide us with human proxies as well as a bit of scale. ]

    Sketchbook

    See the TURTLE of enormous girth!
    On his shell he holds the earth.
    His thought is slow but always kind;
    He holds us all within his mind.

    Great job guys!
    @Stroudle: Wicked piece! A quick suggestion, try not to create dark area's with solid blacks, since pure black it isn't actually something that occurs in nature it looks out of place. Try instead to consider the environments ambient and reflective lighting to decide the right tone for those areas.
    @Gorgoleon: Sick yo. Love the dead grass and weaving flora!

    Thanks 6ideon! Your piece has a really eery calm to it. The colors are really great. I think if you threw some of the branches or foliage into the foreground, it would really make the scale that much more exaggerated. Really great work!

    @Gorgoleon: Excellent detail! You really nailed the dead forest theme.

    Thanks Alex! I suppose environments are one of my favourites things to concept, though I try to keep reasonably competent at as many different topics as I can

    And nice work from you too!
