    On the Road

    Hi!

I am an Illustration Major in my second year of college. As many of you already figured out, it is not enough to do the class assignments at school to become a great artist. In order to keep track of my progress, I want to post in this thread regularly.
Right now I am focusing on my painting skills, because I feel more comfortable with a pen than with a brush.

Here are two quick (around 30 mins) shere exercices: In the first one I used different tones and a hard edged brush. The second one I did with just black and white, a soft brusch (20 % hardness) and a really low flow (2%).
I noticed that I am very heavy handed when it comes to digital painting.

The first picture does seem darker than it should be. Try lowering the contrast where the light hits the shade (or make it softer/blend more) but the second picture is alright. practice more so you will get better, you're only in your 2nd year college, still young and will learn a lot along the way. good luck with your studies.

    hi,

your figures and animals are nice, also watercolor butterflies
but there's sth wrong with heads, the proportions are off, it doesn't look good
maybe it's time to learn about head drawing rules?

    keep it up
