    Kash's sketchbook

    Hello to everyone

I started doing some colourful pictures some time ago (if someone would like to peek they are here:
    http://conceptart.org/forums/showthr...ghlight=kash77 ),

but I really would like to learn the basics of drawing and how to use the pencil. So far I got so much help here on conceptart forum so I thought I would create the sketchbook and ask for some more words from you.
At the moment I am using Loomis books and follow his course but I also became more couragous in doing portraits of my friends.
I am just starting so please feel free to comment and point what is not good yet as I am a really keen lerner. Thank you in advance.

Below are some of the best examples of my pencil work so far.

Hi Kash. I see good things *heading* your way. It's very interesting for me to see this excercises because I have being doing the same ones with the same A.loomis book these las few days!! Really good stuff. Keep it up. On a C&C side of things, I doo feel that your line is really hard. I have trouble sometimes with the preassure I use when drawing, and since i use a putty eraser it's harder sometimes to remove such dark lines. I'll be passing by soon, cya.

P.S. Check out my sketchbook ; ) (link in the signature)

    Hey Dave,
Thank you for the encouragment. I checked your Sketches, nice work waaaay more advanced than me so lots to learn. I really like Loomis books, really fun to draw. When I started those comic faces it took me nearly 2h to draw one and at the end I coudl do it in 10min. It was really encouraging and kept me going.
As for the dark lines. I started each pictures with 2h or h pencil and ended with 5 - 7B so partially they are really dark for that reason but overall I think I might be pressing too much.

Here is some more as I promised myself to do sth every day:

Great start! Your lines are looking really nice (although a bit dark, as was mentioned before.) It would be cool to see some more things with more distinct value though.

thank you for popping in and leaving some feedback Mewball. Drawing with pencil is still new for me so everything is much appriciated.
It is funny as I have no idea why I am doing my lines so strong lol. Sth to work on. I am not touching the values yet as I find it really difficult. I hope that soon I will be able to start applying them, but I started doing heads now then I am planning the body, hands, legs - just to learn the basic way of drawing them, and then the light and perspective. Also some still life on the way. Loooots of work but I will continue following Loomis's book and this forum to learn some fundational drawing
I love other people sketches, it is amazing to see how they grow.

Your head studies are looking good. Make sure the facial features stay on the mid-line of the face; yours kind of veer off slightly once and a while. Good luck!
