Also, it's awesome that there's just a whole animation section now.

A little guide to check your posing and animation. Designed for 3D but can be applied to 2D.

http://www.referencereference.com/ - Great site with short videos of simple actions. The Fighting Hand to Hand section is particularly cool.

http://www.downloadhelper.net/ - Firefox extension that allows you to download streaming videos from lots of places. Why... I bet it will even work with referencereference!

http://fixounet.free.fr/avidemux/ - A program that allows you to go through the frames of lots of format. I can't sing enough praise for this program. You can get any old video and see how things are moving and timed. ... I bet it will work with stuff grabbed with download helper!

http://www.aseprite.org/ - Totally free animation program. It doesn't support antialising or pressure (think easytoon), but it supports more than black and white and has a much better undo system than easytoon. (At least, since last time I used easytoon.) It's a pixel art program, but does have an RGBA mode. Layers. All kinds of good stuff.

So hey, here's a question. Are there any sites out there like this: http://footage.shutterstock.com/ ?

Except with free (or at least cheaper) use or a less scary legal page? Because, basically this website is my dream. I can run a simple search for something simple like "head turn" and actually find what I'm looking for. And it's all pretty good video quality! Well... some (most?) of it is REALLY poorly acted, but for someone just trying to get the shapes of the body down it's awesome.

I mean... I love youtube for random video reference as much as the next guy, but just looking for simple head turns or whatever was like pulling teeth. Here I can find closeups of hands, legs turning, or whatever else with a search for "hands", "legs turning" or "whatever else". In youtube, I had to be clever and search for stuff like "patty cake,hd" to find that sort of thing (at least in good quality). Couple this with AVIdemux mentioned in this post and you have lifetimes worth of reference.

... so... anything comparable? ReferenceReference is pretty awesome for go-to specific stuff, but I'm looking for something VAST now!

Edit: There are thousands of sites like this. Why had I never thought of searching for (free) stock footage before?

    Hey Kasumi,
I would say turn the camera on yourself and start the improv, since any of those stocks wouldn't be specific to your character and what you are trying to create...just cliche things like happy guy and drinking guy instead of "jimmy the confused and frustrated bartender" for example...go to ref to learn about how small children or realy old people behave and move plus more specific body physicality like how athlits or heavy people and then use that information to maake your own animation...without copying one by one.

i hope this helps and makes sence to you

I wonder, does anyone have a good resource for dialogue clips? I've only found one and their stuff is really weak.

    EDIT: This one looks useful.

    http://www.rosswalker.co.uk/movie_sounds/

http://www.audiomicro.com/ This one needs an account, though.

Bah, I'll just need to start collecting clips I like from this day forward.

EDIT: Here's a decent one. Needs people to add more to it, but whatever.
