Some really great changes. Thank you Jason and everyone working on this project!
I will miss the CA look though. CA had a look of its own. I hope they at least let the first uploaded image be your thread's icon like in the old CA. That was one of the coolest little features in the forums.
The forums are alive again!
I'm talking and drawing in these behind the scenes videos:
Halo 4: A Hero Awakens
Halo 4: Return of the Forerunners
ROBOGABO.com / TUMBLR
looking good so far, job well done
Ah, threads are finally useable.Wonder how much maintenance is yet to be done? I'm sure there will be more banner stuff.
This place is starting to flesh out more nicely every day!
The new forum looks great! Even though I don't post much, I did miss it a lot; a perfect change of pace to go back to school to.

The forum looks nicer now. My only critique so far is, I agree the stickies are hard to read, and.....
The grey is nice, but it does resemble somewhat to another art related website that we all know and some loath....
Just saying. Don't hate the messenger!
I just wanted to thank all the CA team for the great job they did on this new version (even if it's not yet finished),
I agree that the stickies are hard to read and I don't really like the color too... I miss the icons of sketchbooks topics... But I think all this stuff well be there in time
Good job guys !![]()
Once you create that illustrated guide Armand send it to me.
It's not that different so far, you old timers should manage ok...![]()
yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Maybe we should express our thanks for posts in the posts.
Armand, thank you for that post, I have nothing to add but it amused me nonetheless.
Hmm...then again maybe not. How about we bring back the groan feature? That will
spice things up.
Don't mind me saying, this shit is ugly, but i'll get use to it, maybe
M
hopefully the style will dramatically change again ....as it is now it looks like a very cheap forum of some World of Warcraft guild and its not really representative for a forum made by very talented creative people for other creative people (speaking of frames, the spacing and arrangement and color - although way better as the yellow-ocre of the last one, and a warm grey in general IS the right choice it could be a lot darker for my liking but definitely better than the yellow as a backdrop for uploaded pictures)

on the plus side is definitely the speed, it reacts and loads way faster then before, kudos for that !

The main thing that led to it being axed at the site I'm referring to was the fact that when the rep system was first added, it was completely anonymous. That just spells trouble.
After a little while, the rep system was changed to be a little closer to the thanks system, with the member's name being attached to it for all to see, but the only drawback is that you can't negate a + rep after 5 minutes or so. Not much of a problem, but it's nice to be able to change your mind about how you feel about a post.

The old skin was raw to me. This one is slightly depressing looking. I look forward to the final version!

Super thankful for the updates.
STILL going to have to mention that as far as I know, this is a community of artists who base their entire lives around giving and accepting critique for the sole purpose of self-betterment as artists.
Should we not be able to apply the same methodology to this forums upgrades? Just because it's a "WIP", we are not allowed to make comments?
I've been here a looooong time, and I have to say, people getting testy about people commenting on the new forums is just a wee...I dunno...hypocritical?
Look, I know that the staff is HEAVILY invested in it. But we are all HEAVILY invested in our art pieces, too.
Have patience with your users and your users will have patience with you.
There.
Now everyone just be calm...the place is looking great.![]()
It is better to wait for the upgrades to finish out than point out things that are probably in process of being corrected anyways.
Unlike a house you can make changes afterwards since some are CSS fixes, but those fixes could be erased if there are additional updates. That is why it is better to wait a bit.
Indeed. Everything mentioned is currently being addressed. The development team are seeing the same
things you guys can. There's good things on the horizon.
Any idea if the CA home page is also receiving an update? Jason showed a pretty cool looking mock up a few years ago for what he had in mind.
I see your point, but at the same time you guys have chosen to put the forums in a half-finished state and there are going to be comments to that.
Whether you think people should wait for their critique is really beside the point. People will make comments as long as it's online. I mean some things are OBVIOUSLY just glitches in the system and people should just be patient through those. But some of them are cosmetic and I think those people (including myself) deserve to be able to say "Love the changes....BUT color X and color Y are bothering me. It's JUST like an art piece. You can ignore it and stick to your guns or take a second look at it and see that it maybe someone has a point.
I'm sorry, but I do see it is the same thing as putting a piece of art in the WIP section. You can't put it up and then get mad when people say they think something is off.
It's a direct parallel to the guy who puts something in the WIP forum, gets critique, and then screams "WHATEVER, GUYS! IT'S OBVIOUSLY NOT FINISHED!".
I'm saying this all with a tongue in my cheek in case the tone is misunderstood.
I really can't say it enough that I appreciate the hard work. But I just wanted to offer this viewpoint before arguing started. I could see a lot of critique and then critique of the critique boiling up. Everyone just needs to be patient with both sides.
Then maybe they should shut the forum down instead of letting it go live then.
