We're back so what have you been doing in the mean time? I've been trying to get myself banned for being honest from WetCanvas (without success as yet) and of course painting.

I´ve been earning a living and trying to get accustomed to London. And now I am back to conceptart after a considerable time and most of sketchbook is gone and I cant seem to get a decent view of anything. Did I miss something? Can you point me to where I can read about recent forum software changes maybe fellow London artist please? Thank you very much in advance

They're currently in the process of updating the site. We can login again, but it looks like it's still a work in process. (In the meantime there's a facebook group where everyone's hanging out http://www.facebook.com/groups/11155202515/ )

Yeah! in the time i needed conceptart was down when i needed it the most. My hunger for learning became bigger. Hope this fancy pantsy look is going to change in the final version though!

Man, I went into serious withdrawal while the site was down.
But it's back!!!!! I think my heart stopped a little when it actually loaded up without the "in progress" warning.

Can't wait to see the finished thing!

Sorry to seem like a wet blanket... but it seems like the bugs aren't worked out yet. The CSS (style sheets) don't seem to be working... everything is ... very strange looking (not in a good way, sorry to say).

As mentioned, not back up officially. Forums are still
being tested. You can see that there are no conceptart
logos or paraphernalia anywhere on the site.

This is still part of the updating process.

I liked the colour tones and the not so shiny buttons of the old board! Is there a possibility to turn the old forum style back on? Like in your user cp?

vBulletin allows you to do quite alot with the CSS and you can add styles which users can then pick. I think it'll just take some time, getting it working in the first place is more important.

Ohh man.. everything looks messed up in firefox for me lol. I'm sur it's going to be the best looking forum when everything is all set. They wont settle for some basic s***.

Anyway I've decided to draw from life "this YEAR!" for the most part so I got alot of things to post in the sketchbook. I'll do it as soon as the forums back on it's feet. I've seen the light too drawing from life is way harder than the photo thing and realising I couldn't do it was like a kick in the teeth... but it felt good y'kno ^_^'

Been a lo-o-ong time since I have last been here. Even before the big upgrade, my computer developed some weird compatibility issue with CA, and suddenly pages would simply not open, or only part of them would open, and it became impossible to participate here.

So I too, was banished to WetCanvas, which seems to be rapidly crumbling apart due to overzealous and control-freaky moderators. Just about my only remaining friend there, and one of the very few who made any meaningful and interesting contributions, got himself banned (and this after many years of contributing!). So I finally also left. They can go screw themselves - if I wanted that level of censorship, I'd move to North Korea.

I do notice one thing post-upgrade: all the images in my sketchbook thread have disappeared. Is this normal? Should I perhaps just abandon the old thread and start a new one?

Edit: Never mind, I notice that the upgrade is actually still in progress, and there are still some bugs to sort out. I'll start bitterly complaining at some later date. :-)

I finished five oil paintings and started seven new ones and spent way too much on giant canvases at the local art store.

I also didn't accept offers to show my work, because I'm picky, so I did research on opening a new gallery, i attended some Satanic LHP meetups and got in a fight with the Temple of Set (idiots). I got to do a cool collaborative pop-art bulletin board installation piece with someone from the Church of Satan. I found out you can post your art globally in places like Florence, Italy, and Paris, France on Craigslist which I did for my partner for fun. Aaaaaand I worked on the blog, e-shopping cart, posted to Ebay, planted some Peganum harmala and Datura stramonium seeds, vacuumed my carpet for the first time in 3 months and levelled up my orc warrior tank in WoW.

I moved into university to study studio art! I'm already struggling with the project we've been given (mostly because it's supposed to be very conceptual, something I've never been good at), which is probably a good sign that I'm learning something new. Glad to see CA is back up. I've been slacking on my own art and now that CA's back up I'll have something to motivate me to practice every day (ie updating my own sketchbook). I can't wait until the last of the bugs are fixed. The layout is looking very cool so far.

Edit: Oh! And I got a job at a campus art gallery before I even moved here. I start this week and I'm super excited. Mostly clerical stuff with the occasional helping out at events and installations.

It's a shame really as there are some talented people there and some who want to learn. It's not being allowed to say anything about the crap posted in their version of 'Finally Finished' that got me. Not that it stopped me doing a paintover - think I'll do a ton more there and see what happens. I think I made Elwell have a nervous breakdown when I posted the link to one horrendous piece that was lauded by a moderator, I may have to apologise for that - sorry Elwell. Started a fight when I suggested painting from a photograph is not painting a still life - still ongoing that one. I'm still polite, but sticking to my guns. I so missed the honesty that CA is happy to give.
