    Graphite studies

Skull made with reference, shading from imagination. Same for the torso.

Some anatomy is a bit off and the shading is lame at some places but still ok i think. (:

    Michelangelo studies! :D

The sketch of Haman is to show how i draw (and think) when im figuring out anatomy, light and shade and stuff. I try to not copy light and shade and instead create my own. This requires anatomical knowledge bla bla bla.. (:

The study of the seated male is shaded from imagination but its fairly close to the original. I think serratus/lats/ribs are OK. Ribs require more work tho!
Abdomen is pretty lame. Will rework it completely! Will also draw the legs i think.

    Study!

Reworked abdomen but its still shit. I need more knowledge of anatomy if im gonna change around the lightning on the model. Maybe i will copy a few pictures as to get an understanding. Oh well.

Will upload my croquissketches tomorrow! (:

    DAMN TORSO!

Really wanna learn the underlying structure of the torso, its quite difficult tho! (:

1 torso sketch. 1 full body drawing.

Edit: ATTENTION! It should be noted that the reference for these are stock images from Vishstudio at DeviantArt!

Hey, I like your shading but your stuff is remembering met a bit to much to burne hogarth, everywhere only muscles, being attached nowhere
It's much better to study anatomy from inside out, so it is easier to understand movements and perspective. stay concentrated ^^

    Stuff.

    2 drawings. 1 arm, 1 torso.

    Several croquis sketches.

I like the arm but stuff got a bit blurry down at the wrist. The torso is ok, imo, showing where the ribcage "pushes out" was a bit tricky.! (:

The croquis i am satisfied with, third time drawing from life for me. Its very relaxing.

Let me know what you think!

    Portrait drawing.

Portrait drawing i made a couple of months ago. From photo. Imaginary lightning. Feels relevant pointing that out since it would look "better", or different, if i had just copied.

Anyways she was delighted, it looked like her. I was happy with it so worth posting.

Edit: It wasnt finished at this time. (:

    Cool Construction

Im starting to learn the construction that Hummel1dane has been very kind to share and make tutorials about. Thank you!

Its kinda difficult. Luckily boxes can simplify alotta stuff. (:

Im also getting help from the very dear Gottfried Bammes, his book is amazing.

    Link to Hummel1danes thread: http://conceptart.org/forums/showthr...d-bad-language!)

I really urge you to check out all his threads too!

    Bye bye...

Hey man thanks for the feed back in my sketchbook, you should add a link to yours in your sig. I can see a bit of what people mean about construction in your studies, thanks for also sharing the link to Hummel1danes construction thread, had a quick skim through looks very very useful.
Be good if you cloud get to life drawing at some point as you clearly are learning the principals I am sure applying them to real life observation will really help you along.

    Cool Just some light stuff...

Been very loose. Partly cus looseness (is that a word lol?) is very important, partly cus i woke up with some serious wrist pain. Its prolly the arm muscles at the part where they recede into those thin rope-like tendons where the problem is (thanks anatomy training!) Could be the cold setting in, could be strain... We can only wait and see! ^^

Been figuring out boxforms in space. I luuv dem boxes...

Next step will be more in-depth study of spine/ribcage/pelvis. Will be a lot more easier when i finally get mah skeleton. ^^

And yes, that is Jack(?) from Nightmare before christmas...

I should also add that i have come to realise that perspective is the single most important thing in drawing. Drawing with depth that is.

    Adios!

    Red face Yet another torso

Drew the skeleton first. Used Bammes as reference, also used this free 3d skeleton to watch from different angles: http://www.anatronica.com/systems.html

Then started to draw the muscles on toppa dat. Learned about insertions, its awesome cus even if the muscles is stretched or compressed the insertions is in the same places ^^

Next step was to shade it. Trying to make it as 3d as possible. Shapes will be more organic in the future. The important thing for me was front- and sideplanes of the ribcage to give it depth. This kinda includes the abdomen (abdominis/oblique) aswell.

    Will finish it tomorrow.

Good night, or good morning perhaps...?

Your eye seems very strong. I'd love to see some of your anatomy and gesture work from your imagination/memory now.

Pretty good, it seems like you have a good grasp on relating the forms to the whole rather which helps your accuracy. Interested in seeing your progress.
