    Grim's Workshop

    Hi folks,

I've recently discovered this forum while looking for concept artworks, and I've found here astonashing things, I must say !
A quick presentation : I'm 23, student in history in France. I grew up in a family of drawing enthusiasts and so, here I am ! i've been drawing since I was able to hold a pen^^ but I've been practicing a lot more seriously for 2 years because I'd like to work as an illustrator for books covers, games... as a second freelance job.
I'm a great fan of the Warhammer universe, military subjects, fantasy and sci-fi in general,so what you will mostly see here are characters from those universes, soldiers, portraits and so on.

Here are some of my recent sketches, hope you'll like them :

Good start, but I think you're making the hands a little small. But, keep up the good work.

Uh, a fan of Sci-Fi- will I be honored to see Stargate SG-1 or Dr.Who fanart in here soon? Good luck with your illustrative endeavors, nice to see you work with pencils.

Thanks for your comments people ! Yes I always tend to do the hands a bit too small, on my next work I'll try to figure this out !
Lord Louis : sadly, i'm not a SG1 or Dr Who fan... But why not ?

I've been working on the color for the shooting Space Marine but... I made a mistake and my PSD file got corrupted and so did the jpeg. Don't ask me how it happened, I don't f**** know but I'm a bit angry... So you will have it tomorrow i guess...

    Hi folks !
Here's a speed I did yesterday evening, first time i tiried to make a color without the sketch lines under it, just working on the contrasts. Freaking difficult, but really pleasant and useful !

It's hard because the bamboo tablet doesn't allow me to be as accurate as I'd like to be, but still I like it...

    Hey Folks !

As i'm having dog-killing headaches because of a f**** cold, and thus I can't work, I'm drawing ^^ Here's a little projet i've been working on since yesterday, an Imperial political officer (don't know the English word) from Warhammer 40K. Something more serious, with much more effects on it. I've tried to do the boots and the other arm, but I'm having some issues with them for the moment. i'll try to go back to it when I get better. Here's my work so far :

    Hi fellas,

here's another speed I did (over 3 days in reality, but 30mins everyday because of my studies^^)
It's a Space Marine again. Yeah, I know, I'm gonna paint something else^^ But it really helps me to get how to light and darken things. Won't probably go further for this one because I can't spend a lot of time on it and I want to go out to another subject...

I'm quite satisfied of the head and shoulder pads though !

    Hi !

Last WIP, some kind of a Warrior angel. She will be holding a spear and a handgun, but I still need to figure out the design of her helmet and weapons !

    Hi everyone,

after a long, forced break, here are some works I did recently. They represent Japanese ronins and samourai, as it's for a commission, I told my martial art teacher I had time again to draw for the website. So here are some training works, some speeds made entirely on PS6 and another one made with pencils and then colored in PS6 :

Size: 44.2 KB

The guy on foot seems to float, but on my ref picture, it's like that, his feet can't be seen. And yes, he's leaning, as on the picture, hesitating on the way to kill his opponent (movie : Zatoishi)

    Hope you'll like it.

    Good evening,

here's a little close up of a quick sketch I did tonight, now I'm trying to put some color on it. Not easy, as I haven't drawn women for a long time... Hard to render the smothness of the skin !

    Hi folks,
here's a crop from my current WIP, a sort of "Tomb Raider Fan art". I won't call it a Lara Croft because it's not good enough yet. Still, I'm more satisfied with this one than with my previous works ! Lots and lots of work to go...

Nice start! I see some things with your picture that I would like to point out. I think if you work on them a bit your piece will become much stronger! The leg seems a bit awkwardly bent outwards and the bending leg seems a bit longer than the other one. The boots also seem to be different, with the boot on the right leg being skin-tight and almost reaching the knee, while the boot on her left leg (our right) is not skin-tight but sticking out a bit from the leg. It doesn't reach as high up as the other boot. There is also a shape (the cast-shadow under the ribs to the left) in the torso that gives the illusion of an awkward twist, if you know what I mean. It's easily fixes, just paint it over!

I hope this helps! keep it up!
