Hey guys, I did a little searching, and I couldn't find a thread with the same theme. Which made me think: Why hasn't this been asked before?
So here it is:
Who's your favourite artist?

Who's your favourite artist?
Hmm... It's a tough one... I have many.
Android Jones
Zdzislaw Beksinski
James Gurney
Dylan Cole
... My dad...
Where do we draw the line at "artist"?
We all are in some regards...
Recently, Zdzislaw Beksinski has been inspiring me the most... So yeah... Him, for now.
Keith Parkinson
There have been a number of "favorite artist threads" I wish they were made sticky. There was a great one called Favorite Artists A-Z, it cycled through the alphabet a few times. That's how I found some of my favorite artists.
It's impossible for me to pick one favorite, because There are many I like for different reasons. But here are a few anyways.
Phil Hale is probably my favorite detail oriented painter.
Salary Man is probably my favorite character designer.
James Jean is a fucking wild man.
RIP Sergio Toppi. I said it before and I'll say it again, the most underrated artist IMO.

It's a toss up between Andrew Wyeth and Winslow Homer.
(Though, it would be interesting to see the two of them in a fist fight-- my money would be on Wyeth. . .)
Yeah, I know, they died generations apart-- it's just kind of a Fantasy Watercolorist MMA thing I got going on in my head.
KP-Winslow Homer did field sketches of battles during the civil war. That's pretty bad ass. So my money would be on him.
@Raoul Duke
Phil Hale and James Jean are two of my favourite painters right now.
I could look at their work all day long.
Phil Hale
James Jean
I'm also really liking Daniel Danger at the moment.
EDIT: Also, Barefoot you should check out the inspiring images thread in the Art Discussion section.
There's a load of gems in there.

For the past few years ive really loved the work of Robogabo. Also i feel like he is one of the more quiet, but steady, hard workers around. Truely a master of economy, and humbleness.

http://mr--jack.deviantart.com/ Has been a real influence on me in the last while. Same as Frazetta and http://www.petarmeseldzijaart.com/
When I had my first art history classes, for some reason Alma Tadema's paintings just stuck with me. I rather enjoyed them.
But my altime favorite is Mucha!

I don't have any favorite one, but I really respect Todd Lockwood. That guy inspired me to start practicing in digital art. My mind was blown when I saw his book cover for "Streams of Silver" by R. A. Salvatore in library.
That's this one
And Mike Mignola is amazing. His drawing style kicks ass.

Izi bows before the superior intellect of Velocity and he has a pretty neat sketchbook
Certain things are obvious and it goes without saying, but here it is, Anders Zorn, Joaquin Sorolla, Nicolai Fechin, John Sargent, Jean Leon Gerome, Mucha, J.C. Leyendecker, Edgar Payne, and etc. I have no idea why some of them here didn't make into some of the lists above.

Painting wise I don't have a favorite. It's too hard to say.
Animation wise also pretty hard to say. I'd say simply the staff of Ghibli is my favorite. Looove their movies.
Comic wise. My favorite is still the artist that did Berserk. 20 Years running and still takes his time to produce quality shit. Only genre I can clearly pick a favorite from.

One of those things where it started off pretty good, a bit wonky here and there. But then over time all those images in a 20+ year span. Guy didn't get lazy the entire time. If he felt there needed to be a lush environment he drew it.
i'm not sure it's possible to actually nail down a favourite artist. i suppose i can only limit mine to that of the artist i draw the most inspiration from.
http://kekai.blogspot.com/
Kekai Kotaki is perhaps not the prime artist who has effected my personal style, but more importantly he is the perfect inspiration. An artist who got himself where he is from the smallest point to the highest achievement. all this and adding greatness to something that was pretty great already.
and a kick ass style
BUT still cannot call favourite ever
so here's the list of those that can never go unmentioned:
Frank Frazetta
Luke Mancini
Joe Madereira
and Adrien Smith has been mentioned already
Gustav Klimt
Odd Nerdrum
Zdzislaw Beksinski
Robert Venosa
Aaron Horkey
James Jean
Just to name a few.
i knew i was gonna get like ten people saying phil hale before me :b
still phil is my fav and runner ups would be
jeremy geddes
gottfried helnwein

My favorites are Chris Foss and Syd Mead. Would link but the message would just go in moderation limbo since my postcount is too low. Besides, many people know them anyway or can google them. Syd Mead's super shiny, super American vehicles are still the coolest ever, and Chris Foss' spaceships were the spark that made me want to learn to paint.
