    ROUND #272 - Doped Up

    topic:

    ROUND#272: Doped Up

We’ve all seen how adorable koalas are, sitting in trees all day eating eucalyptus. Common misconceptions suggest that the koala’s 16-hour sleep cycle is a result of being nearly-constantly high because of the toxins present in eucalyptus plants. While the koala’s digestive system filters out these toxins, imagine a creature that’s diet consisted of plants or animals with some kind of drug-like property. Think about its diet’s effects on it, physically, and about how that would effect the animals demeanor. Design your take on a creature that’s diet drugs it.

    Round Requirements:

    - The creature must be visibly sedated by it’s diet

    - The creature’s primary food source should be represented

    - The creature’s anatomy should take into consideration a low-energy method of locomotion

    Deadline:

    August 29th, 7:00pm PST (GMT -8 )

September 20th would be in 4 weeks. June 20th would be 2 months ago or in 10 months. Hmm...

Sorry about the due date problem. It happens sometimes when I copy/paste a template for the brief. Should be fixed, now.

Lege1 -- The scale is a little unclear right now, it looks like the mushrooms are about the size of trees? The mountains/clouds look nice though.

Here's where I'm at so far!

    "Flat-Tailed Frog-Sucker"

First time having a go at a COW! Couldn't resist.

These large, slow, amphibious creatures live in the rainforest where they lounge about enjoying the moist warm surroundings, protected from attack by the poisons they absorb from the local frogs. To gain this poison juveniles suck on frogs, which results in a rather extreme addiction to the side-effects. By the time they are adults, suckers contain enough poison to take down an elephant, and so the licking is merely recreational.

Since the creature stays on the ground mostly, and since I'm making him so slow and sleepy, I figured I should give him some defensive measures. The creature stinks so badly that no predators want to go anywhere near it-- the plant I have yet to design helps with this effect.

This Sheep-hopper feeds on weed. The stomach is always full and cozy to sleep on. Jumping on food in the middle of the weed field isn't hard, so the sheep-hopper manages it even if full-time high.
