I played a loooot of Total Annihilation back in the day, so this definitely piqued my interest. I must say though, the style looks like it was designed by Pixar.
    My Sketchbook

And then God said, "Let us make man in our likeness and our image. Let us make him ridiculously hard to draw so that poor artists everywhere will have to spend 10,000+ hours failing repeatedly before they can begin to capture the form and likeness onto a two-dimensional surface." And there was man. And it was good. And artists everywhere lost their minds.

But can they deliver all that they have shown in the trailer?

Personally I think it seems a bit lack-luster. It looks like they've got a few "key" ideas on which they're hanging too heavily. "Smashing planets together" and "Asteroid bombardment"....hmm. Unless these features are done in a particularly dynamic and variable way, they're just going to be the same as any other feature when it comes down to it.

I like the idea of multiple planet battles but the further the distance you spread the players attention, the less involving any sense of micro unit control will or can be.

It does look like a nice bit of fun though I suppose.

Well, given their credentials and their passion for RTS games, I'm pretty sure they'll deliver.

Yeah, the graphics are stylized and cartoony, but that doesn't mean its not going to be fun to play. If I had to guess, I'd say they chose to make the graphics that way due to the game having a presumably enormous scale.

"Smashing planets together" and "Asteroid bombardment"....hmm. Unless these features are done in a particularly dynamic and variable way, they're just going to be the same as any other feature when it comes down to it.
I'm sure they thought about this. Its not like they're gonna allow players to smash asteroids into an enemy planet without the enemy having some kind of way of countering it. After all, they did work on TA and SC (Total Annihilation and Supreme Commander) and those games were pretty dynamic.

If and when it comes out will be what tells us the whole truth. Right now we have a nice presentation and can only speculate on the things we've seen. I sincerely hope it delivers.
