Hey (:
I'm trying to keep the beat up. hard today since my hand started to really
hurt from penciling


Since i am starting a new job - I made a drawing schedule, just so I won't get lost (hehe i'm lost in my room and I sleep with papers=P )
I realllly don't want to mess this up! so am writing this as a reminder to self

50/35cm, 9b pencil
had a hard time with the texture of the fabric. came out looking like wood
not happy with this


I start studying expression - some quick gestures.
Struggling in deciding ratter to do this freely, or to "build" the face structure
Tips are welcomed!!


some quickies, trying to build the face and simplify it..cause I kinda got
trapped in the realistic trap




it's not much, but I am really working hard on understanding the figure, but
those are mainly gestures which are hard to take photo of

I like the SPs - they show you've taken the time to look just like the fabric dog above. Sometimes you need to go backwards to go forwards. Try drawing simpler objects to begin with. Fun with a Pencil by Loomis will help with expressions. Keep it up and you'll be rocking in no time.

Hey Chompi'n, thanks for stopping by sketchbook,
The plushie dog looks great, i also really like the stylised portraits in the first
post. If you need some help with your self-portraits I'd follow Black Spot's
advice and check out Andrew Loomis' books, they are really helpful in breaking
up the planes of the face and constructing the features. His books also cover
most of the fundamentals of drawing, so they are a massive help.
They are helping me a lot!

Keep to that schedule and you'll be smashing it in no time!

I'm a bit sad that i haven't updated in a long time.. I kinda stopped drawing
everyday... work and tiredness has taken my time.(my body just needed
to get used to standing all day.. hehe =P )
and so I have decided that it I need to start thinking more on my portfolio,
rather than study figure/anatomy.
so I am writing this to get back to track, doing more still-life, colored pencils
(and going more to my teacher, to help me build it up!.)

A reminder to self, to update from time to time and get critics.

Sucks to hear that you haven't drawn in a while. I remember reading a post by JeffX stating that it's not always about drawing...but doing research on art history, color theory, etc as well is all apart of the art process. That actually gave me some motivation, so that might be relevant here as well.

Good sketchbook so far....I really like your self-portraits and still life drawings...especially the dog. You did a great job with the texture.

long haven't been here
I don't have much time uploading stuff to the computer
I am busy with drawing for my portofolio(for school-entrance exams) and working
I'll just update with a few stuff i did lately

I love your caricature faces, they're really well formed even with all the exaggeration. That line work in that ink drawing is breathtaking, but the form of his face is a little weird. I think the front of his head is too big compared to the side.

Anyway, good luck with your entrance exams! I'm sure you'll do great.
