Today is the moment that i'm going to start my sketchbook (as you can see) all i have to say at the moment is that i want to update this thread as much as possible. I'm going to put much time in drawing! I'd like critique and comments very much!

This is my first drawing for today, tomorrow i will be posting allot more drawings!

I want to ask one thing, how much DPI is usually used for drawings? My drawing looks so light?!

Sadly there are no images visible in your thread, use the attachment manager to upload some (the button is located under the field where you enter text). 300 DPI the common, but 72 should be enough for sketches and the like. It doesn't have anything to do with the images brightness though, so if the drawing looks too light you need to adjust it with a program such as photoshop, gimp etc

I'm still trying to draw still life's, and i'm also trying to give the objects shading..but it isn't that good...shall i just go one with making drawing of still life's?

I think you should keep doing what you do, it's hard but still life teaches you a lot!

May it's be good if you'd practice more confidence in your lines and shapes before concentrating on shading. Also, if you do shade, try to simplify the shadows instead of smudging everything.

Today i'm going to post again still life drawings, it feels like i'm not making very much progress..shading is still a very big problem, so i'm trying to get a nice shape. I would like to here some critique, and comment, because i really don't know what i should improve, and how i need to draw still life's.

You are making progress, don't worry so much about that. I think it would help if you got some basic shapes: spheres, cylinders, cubes, and just draw them from lots of different angles. The more you draw the better you'll get, so keep drawing.

For now i have some still life's, the two circles are made with different pencils, the first one isn't good, but the second one is made with a 4b pencil, and the shades are also better on that one. Thanks for watching!

I have been to lazy as you can see, i just haven't drawn for to long. From now on i'm going to try to update this thread everyday . And i'm starting today!

Another three papers with drawings, second page is to sketchy, but it was just for practice . I would like to have some critiques, because i'm not sure if i still should go on with drawing still life's/from observation..Thanks !!

The update for today is here! After having drawn those drawings today, i have too new things i hate to draw. Number one is...drawing shadows, look at the glass i drawn .The second thing i hat drawing is making the wheels of those cars. Those ellipses are just horrible to draw. Anyway, i just should practice on those things i guess .

Hi, I think your drawing needs more practice. Don't worry too much if you are doing still lifes, it teaches you, so go for it. And don't worry too much with shading. I think this is time for line studies and the construction of the forms with the basic shapes like: cones, cylinders, cubes... I specially like the last post, the drawings there are more precise and the line is clean. Don't give up. Keep drawing what you are doing. And keep posting here. I'll keep an eye on you to help you.

I see improvement. It's subtle in its own way, but I recognize more accuracy in your lines and shapes of late, and I also agree with Cojac - don't worry about shading too much. You're on the right way of something here - keep it up!
I'm a beginner myself, and what helped me a lot was relating the objects I see, drawn and imagine out of the blue to an actual perspective. It's very tedious seeing and understanding that "This kettle I'm drawing should be wider here and more narrow here because of perspective," rather than "This particular perspecive does this thing with the entire object and all parts of it." Maybe I'm vague or wrong or ambiguous, but this mindset (and very simple perspective studies!) helped me a lot. If not for the immediate impact, at least for your self confidence. It's very important!

Really good studys! You´ll gain good comprehenshion of space if you keep on doing those! You could try to draw through the objects. Simplify them and try to draw them from diffrent angels but this time form mind. Draw what you can´t see aswell. Don´t just outline. Try to understand the shape of the object as a whole. If you have a very complex shape like the car simplify it and get more complex afterwards. The big shapes will give you more orientation where you can put the smaller detail-shapes. I´d also recommend you to do some research on perspective.
